We're very quick to forget, and a healthy church intentionally sets up rhythms to remember the goodness of God.

To the onlookers, the most remarkable attribute of the first church was that they were undeniably devoted to being together. It crossed racial, social and economic boundaries. They were wholeheartedly committed to being together.

In Acts 1 and 2, we see the first church taking shape. We read about the first sermon ever delivered, how the poeple responded, and what habits begin forming among the people.

Towards the end of Genesis, we read alot about Jacob, his life, and ultimately, his death and burial. Jacob can sense that the end of his life is near, and we can learn a lot from those who know the end of life is approaching soon.

In this sermon, we see that God is behind all the highs and lows of Joseph’s life. This enables him to fulfill his calling, and God uses him to save both his brothers and all of God’s people.

When Joseph arrives in Egypt, Genesis 39 tells us he is sold as a slave to a man named Potiphar who is the Chief of the Royal Police. In six short verses, we see four ways that God cares about Joseph. God gives Joseph protection, His presence, prosperity, and a promotion in the house of Potiphar.

In Genesis 37, we see that Joseph experiences the favoritism of his father, the hatred of his brothers, and the providential care of God.

As we start our journey through the life of Joseph, we see early on that he grew in a wildly dysfunctional family. Yet, God was raising him up to help save the lives of millions of people.
