Kip's Inbox and DEI Question 29.11.2023

DEI is the current version of Affirmative Action and the dumbing down of America through the corporate workplace. The Sisters have a few things to say about that. Oh, and of course Kip will cover a few current events of interest from her burgeoning Inbox. Is Diversity Our Strength? The Integrative Approach 29.11.2023

The integrative approach to mental health is not new but it's not widely practiced. Yet. It is rapidly picking up steam especially in the past few years given the events of our time and the fact that the pills our clients are taking aren't working well and at best, they only treat the symptoms leaving the cause intact. Kip and I explore this topic, what we're doing about it and how you...

Self Esteem, Your Kid Is Not Special 29.11.2023

Episode 17 is all about self-esteem; what it is, the self-esteem movement, how it was hijacked and deeply affected our social fabric in a bad way and how it affects us all to this day. Have a listen then chime in in the Comments section below. Odds And Ends 29.11.2023

Before we actually record anything we always chat for awhile beforehand and sometimes Phillip hits the record button just in case we catch some interesting stuff. He thought this warm-up chat was good enough to warrant the share so here it is. Hope you like it! I'm a Walking Microaggression 29.11.2023

This may sound like a 2nd grade book report but this week we're going to review, "Kip Goes to a School Board Meeting" and see what shakes out of that tree. She got an earful about the overall attitude of school counselors and what they think about how our kids are dealing with the covid issues. And don't ask her what she thinks about the book selection process for school librarie...

My Pronouns Are WTH 29.11.2023

Our culture, our world, is being attacked by a powerful group of people who obviously want to divide us all and keep us at each others' throats. How else do you explain what's going on? Kathleen and Kip spend a few minutes talking about the gender pronoun nonsense, and why it helps nothing and only causes division. Are You The Last Hope 29.11.2023

Kip Rodgers and I talk about the taboo topic: are the covid shots causing more problems, and in larger numbers, than it's solving? We come at this topic through the lens of the recent "event" on Monday Night Football and the large number of athletes dropping dead on the field. Something's not right. Making a Living as a Counselor 29.11.2023

Like a lot of traditional professions, especially those in which you work for your self, you're not likely to be pulling down the big 6-figure income straight out of school. Even those who have been at it for awhile may find it tough sledding. You have to build that practice first and that may mean two or three jobs for awhile, regardless of what you may have heard or been told in school. The...

The Holistic Approach To Mental Health 29.11.2023

Two things I've learned, especially since 2021, is that mental health issues are definitely linked to what's happening elsewhere in the body, and more pills just aren't cuttin' it. In this episode Kip and I are going to get into that and talk about my experiences in the past two years, and what I expect to see coming through my door in waves for the foreseeable future. Allopathic v...

Have We Been Hijacked 29.11.2023

Kips' fired up about the idea that the mental health profession is a "captured operation". If you've ever felt like ideas, processes, and regulations that feel very foreign to the counseling profession you grew up with are being forced on the profession, well you're not alone. Listen carefully as these two, Kip Rodgers LPC-S and Kathleen Mills, LPC-S, jump right in. Psycholog...

Risky Business and Blurred Boundaries 29.11.2023

Sex with your clients or anyone else you're not in a monogamous relationship with is a risky business. Forget the moral clause associated with that statement, convince me from a pure math perspective that you're safer. You can't do it. This week Kathleen and Kip throw this topic around and well,...you'll see. STD Data and Statistics - Centers for Disease Control and Prevention http...

Are We Abdicating 28.11.2023

We're becoming "professional friends". Counseling used to mean holding clients accountable, helping them determine boundaries, and steering them towards brutal examination, where needed. (Still does in my office!) Sadly, we seem to be devolving into a professional culture that, as one friend of mine put it, is all about meeting with people an hour at a time on a "rent-a-friend&q...

Schedule The Surgery 28.11.2023

To the very small segment of our society that thinks the standard response to every boy that ever played with a doll, or every girl that likes to play sports with the boys should be, "schedule the surgery", we're asking, what's your hurry? What kind of world have we devolved into when the simplest solutions to problems aren't tried first before the irreversible, life and mind...

On Supervision Programs 28.11.2023

Supervision programs, good ones, are scarce. We just finished another 40-Hour supervisor training class with a fantastic group of future mentors and that got me to thinking about a few things, which got Kip to thinking about them, too, and here we go! Tell me what your thoughts are on these varied views of our current, universal training regime and let me know in the comments section below. Worksh...

Points of Mental Toughness 28.11.2023

Mental toughness isn't toxic or harmful, but it is lacking these days and that hasn't gone unnoticed by The Therapy Sisters. In this episode, Kip Rodgers LPC-S leads the conversation in an effort to chart a course back from the edge of the River Weak, and help us all understand why being mentally tough beats the alternative. Raising Mentally Soft Generations 28.11.2023

Mentally soft vs mentally strong. The story of our counseling professions, right? We'll always have some of both but it seems as if the past 50-60 years has really tipped the scales toward the weaker side of the spectrum. We're raising mentally soft generations! Maybe we're wrong. I don't think so, but you be the judge. Have a listen as Kip and I throw this bone around for awhile,...

Mass Psychosis Delusion 28.11.2023

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me! In this week's episode Kip Rodgers and I explore a topic, mass delusional psychosis, that plays a large part in the whole group-think mentality and causes large numbers of people to blindly follow a lead. And as history has shown, that's not always a good thing. Definition: Mass Delusional Psychosis https://www.fromrome.info/2022/01/0...

MultiCultural Diversity 16.11.2023

In this week's episode Kip Rodgers and I talk about cultural diversity training and attempt to sum it all up in a tidy 26 minutes. Have a listen then tell us what your position on the subject is, in the Comments section below. We've provided quite a few links to material we refer to in the show, and a few extra links for good measure. There are hundreds of others we could have posted but t...
