We are excited to bring back one of our favourite reoccurring series on habit.  David begins the series discussing how our western cultural mindset emphasizes right thinking over right behaviour and when you get your thoughts correct your behaviour should follow suit. However according to modern cognitive research and ancient biblical wisdom it might be the other way around.

It is epiphany and our teacher is Marisa Aud who is speaking on Matthew 12: 1-12.  It was to the Magi that Christ was revealed showing that there are none too far that they can’t be received by God and welcomed into his Kingdom.  

Christin finishes off our Advent series preaching on Marry's profound prayer the magnificat. Mary's prayer subverts our expectations on what a Kingdom looks like and how God's peace is far different than what we would expect.  

Tyson McCombs continues our series on Advent preaching from Zephaniah 3.  Tyson speaks on joy and how In the midst of a broken world God is our joy.  We find our joy in the knowledge that God is near and will not forsake us but will redeem all things.   

David Harvey continues the Advent series speaking from Malachi 3:1-4 and Luke 3:1-6. Waiting is hard, especially in times of transition and uncertainty. A wide variety of emotions occur in times of transition and it is important to know they are valid especially at Westside.  Feeling safe and feeling heard is an important value for the leadership team here at Westside.  

Phil Aud begins the season of Advent teaching on both reading and telling the times.  Preaching from Jeremiah 33:14-16 and Luke 21:25-36, Phil shows us that in times which seem to be good is where Jeremiah and Jesus gave warning but in times of devastation Jeremiah and Jesus spoke hope.  Phil once again asks the question are we as a Church reading and telling the time?

Christin continues our series, discussing how we as a Church can be intentional fostering a culture that is good.  Christin articulates three areas in which we can be intentional: thoughtfulness, compassion, and belonging.  It is in these three areas we can grow in the likenesses of Christ demonstrating his goodness to the world and to each other.

Tyson speaks on Psalm 127 and the radical call of slow obedience in the same direction. Tyson discusses the tower of Babel from Genesis 11 and how that contrasts God plans in which God must build the house or the builders labor in vain.  

David Harvey speak on the importance of Sabbath in a society that forces us to prove ourselves by our effectiveness and ability.  Sabbath is rooted in goodness and reminds us that we are human and God is the Lord of the universe.  Sabbath is a contemplative guide to safety that helps us avoid the traps of cultures versions of greatness.
