The Tiger’s View: Updates from Warrensburg Schools

Dr. Ritter is joined the district's retiring administrators - Susan Crooks, Executive Director of Academic Services and Dr. Troy Marnholtz, Superintendent of Support Services. Our newest school board members join Dr. Ritter to talk about their background and goals for the future of the Warrensburg School District. Join us as we hear from Mrs. Toni Hawley and Mr. Brian Gremaud.

Mrs. Fleeman and Mrs. Shaffer (the principals of Maple Grove and Ridge View Elementaries) join Dr. Ritter to talk about elementary principal leadership, what happens in a typical day, the role of the principal, and some of the fun stories with students.

Liz Tarr, Director of Food Service, joins Dr. Ritter and discusses how families can get free meals for their students throughout most of the summer. Locations and times of these opportunities are shared. Also learn about the importance of the free and reduced lunch application and how it impacts more than just food service opportunities.

Dr. Ritter is joined by Mayor Bruce Uhler, City Manager Mike Schrage, Main Street Director Jamie DeBacker, and Chamber of Commerce Director Suzanne Taylor to discuss what makes the Warrensburg community so special and a great place to raise a family. Dr. Ritter discusses what all happens during the end of the year and into the summer months for the district. Get an inside look at what Central Office and the 12 month employees in the district do to get ready for the upcoming school year.

Dr. Ritter is joined by four of our life-long Tigers who attended school throughout our K-12 system. They share their memories, successes, lessons learned, and reminisce on some of their favorite memories as Tigers.

Dr. Ritter is joined by Fine Arts teachers from across the district to talk about the importance of vocal music, instrumental music, art, and theatre in a student's education.

Dr. Ritter is joined by three of our DECA students including our international qualifier! Hear about their program and how they tie what they learn in their business program to what they want to do in the future. Great advice for students considering joining DECA as well!

Dr. John Finnane, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services, joins Dr. Ritter to discuss Month of the Military Child, Purple Star School Recognition, and how the district supports our military families as they transition into and out of the school district.

This week Dr. Ritter is joined by Emily Constant, Michael Tyler, and Woods Prael to learn how our instructional coaches support our faculty and staff and foster stronger student engagement and learning. They also shared how families can help get students ready for state testing which is just a few weeks away!

Dr. Ritter is joined by five of our Warrensburg Middle School students to talk about the Magic Me Program. These students visit our senior community centers. The students talk about their interest in service to the community, building relationships with our senior citizens, and why they would encourage others to get involved.

Dr. Ritter is joined by four senior cast members of Our Town, the WHS Spring Play. Hear how our students got involved in the fine arts and found their passion for theater and learn about the upcoming school play!

Dr. Ritter is joined by Dr. Troy Marnholtz to discuss school finance, the impact of the senior tax credit, and the potential impact of Senate Bill 3. SB 3 was passed last summer in an effort to keep the Chiefs in Missouri, but also resulted in a potential freeze of primary residential property tax into the future. Dr. Marnholtz and Dr. Ritter discuss how SB 3 could impact school funding.

Gateway Alternative Center Director Susie Osborn joins Dr. Ritter to talk about how the school district provides an alternative education program to our high school students. She will share about the program, highlight success stories, and discuss common misconceptions about alternative education.

Dr. Ritter is joined by Student Support Services Coordinators Barb Hill and Doug Conley to talk about their roles in providing a variety of supports for our students and families in the school district.

Dr. Ritter discusses how the district will be focusing on Market Value Assets for our students as they graduate high school to demonstrate their college and career readiness. He also discusses how the district is focusing on students gaining real world learning experiences with our business and organizational partners in the community.

Guests Dr. Ann McCoy, UCM's Vice Provost of Academic Programs & Graduate Studies, and Dr. Kyle Cahill, WHS Principal, join Dr. Ritter to discuss some of the partnerships the school district has with the university including opportunities or a new early college program and free tutoring available for all K-12 students.

Activities Director Jake Duvall joins Dr. Ritter to talk about all things with Warrensburg activities and athletics. Learn about our partners, what’s happening in the district, preparing for athletics after high school and more!

Director of Academic Services Mrs. Susan Crooks shares about how the Warrensburg School District is providing professional development for teachers, how teachers use AI in the classroom, and how students are experiencing AI in their learning.

Dr. Ritter shares some of the factors for what goes into determining if school is cancelled or announced as an AMI day when there is winter weather.
