The Room in the Room

Important announcements in this one! Lots of emotions! Dillon and Jenn  start off talking fast as it's so late at night here in London! Then they reveal why Dillon was so brave earlier in the week.

Jenn and Dillon recorded this on the 22nd, but Jenn had her first Covid vaccine and had a slight reaction, so they never posted it! Please enjoy more jibber-jabbing. Dillon was very brave yesterday. He talks about his love for gymnastics.

Someone is scared. Being scared gives you an opportunity to be brave. Pretty cool, eh?

It's the birthday of a really special person in our lives! Hooray for birthdays! Also, Dillon has decided it's Weird Day. As per usual, we don't describe it terribly well, but basically,  we just  keep trying to be a little weird. It's not too hard for us.

There's so much going on. Happy Neurodiversity Awareness Week! Happy Red Nose Day! Jenn touches on Dillon's prematurity, and being 'lucky.' Jenn is listening to and loving @francescasegal  podcast 'Mother Ship' about premature babies. Dillon touches on his dyslexia and moderate hearing loss.  And please rate us if you like us, but don't bother if you don't!...

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! Dillon describes his fave playground game. 

We listen to a snippet of a song and discuss the use of the word 'baby.' Then Dillon gives a shout out to the pirate ship at school. 

Dillon met an old friend of Jenn's last night who suggested he talk about his favourite thing on the programme: rice cakes. He says it all! (Notice that this is a short episode!) Happy Mothering Sunday! 

Only one topic tonight: should we get a cat? Well, we already have Mr. Timkins. Let us know what you think.

School is on. Life is good. 

It's a new season! Dillon talks about is how he could get a mobile phone and his first day back at school since December. School! Both Dillon & Jenn were excited. A very special thank you to Mr Bryan, whose review of The Room in the Room made this great day even greater. 

Goodbye Season 1! Goodbye Homeschooling! Goodbye Birthday Weekend!  Hello Season 2! Hello School! Hello New Decade of Life!

It's birthday weekend! And we got a new computer! We did a test of its sound in the kitchen, and here it is! Birthday weekend and the END of Homeschooling! What could be better?

Adios, Homeschooling! Hola, Birthday Weekend! We are happy and sad and happy and sad and happy and sad but really I think we're mostly happy! Thank you, Ivan. House-elves should defo find that wand! But they may be busy celebrating this weekend. And Happy World Book Day! Guess who Dillon is for World Book Day?

Four more days of homeschooling. Dillon and Jenn talk about how annoying they are to each other with homeschooling. They theorise on why things get lost and then they play a little word association. It's almost the end of this Season, as Dillon will soon be back in school. 

Why are discos dark? How are we feeling about the end of homeschooling? How are those new Luna Lovegood glasses? All this and alada bye bye byes.

Dillon has packed. Guess what arrived today? His Luna Lovegood glasses! SEVEN more days of homeschool! (and Jenn's birthday is one of them so we may have a light day that day...)

This is from last night, but the server was down (much like we are down with the homeschooling) so we couldn't post. So we post it now, as a collective cry from parents and children flies into the ether and homeschooling begins again. Plus: all colours are for all people. End of sentence. Have we already talked about that? Worth discussing twice. 

Dillon tries to convince Jenn to let him watch (or is it read?) the Harley Quinn comics. Jenn thinks they're inappropriate for a 7-year old. Feel free to weigh in!

Dillon has a pull-up bar and as of yesterday he can flip around on it. He bought it himself by working really hard at maths (which is the same thing as... math). 

Fan Mail! You made our day!  Dillon plays part of a favorite song. They reminisce on a New York taxi ride (which started at the Staten Island Ferry), when Jenn got very angry. Which is interesting because yesterday, Dillon got very very very very angry at the dentist. The lesson is that when you're angry, it's often a good idea not to talk to the person you're really angry at until...

No school! Hooray! Dillon constructed a wonderful den with many interesting features. He listened to the Wombles, and watched some Snoopy. All in all, a good day. Feel free to email us at theroomintheroom@gmail.com if you have any thoughts on the new jingle.
