The Room in the Room

It's Wensdai. Nope. Wednesday! Dillon discusses something he really liked about the film We Can Be Heroes. Jenn can't believe the whole episode slid by without mention of the song. There may have to be a part two.  

It snowed in London. Soft, gentle snow that kept coming and coming. It's still coming! But it doesn't seem to stick. Dillon and Jenn walked in it and Dillon got a hot chocolate...

Dillon reads a snippet from David Walliams'  The World's Worst Children 3 . Was it a good day? Was it a bad day? It was a Monday and the snow gently fell over us in South London while we tried to learn something about anything. 

Dillon has a tummy ache. He's had one for a couple weeks now. When it had a fever with it, Dillon and Jenn got Covid tested. Negative. No fever, but still with the tummy ache. Jenn thinks it could be the dark side of lockdown getting to him... but then he perks up. Guess what makes him perk up? You'll never guess...

Seriously. Dillon and Jenn love it so much. They hope that Ms. Kamilla Benko will listen and know that her book series has given them so much joy. Seriously, Ms. Benko, it has provided hours and hours and hours of interest and engagement. The trilogy are the most read books in our home, even more than Harry Potter and David Walliams! In home learning today, Dillon had a music lesson. It was all about the big orchestras used to do the music in certain animations. Like, 80-100 musicians! This led him and his Mom to talk about the Pink Panther. Enjoy!

Have you ever had not just a bad day, but a very terrible bad day? Dillon and Jenn had one of those. Just... nothing went right. But Dillon still makes cool sounds, and learned a nice tune to help you remember the continents. They give their two top tips for what to do if you ever have a day like theirs.

Jenn podcasts with a dinosaur. Is he empathetic or sympathetic? They listened to Beethoven conducted by Rimma Sushanskaya, but Jenn worries about pronouncing her name incorrectly. Even 7 year old Dillon was moved to dance. Dillon and Jenn say goodbye to January, which marks a month of The Room in the Room.

"The days go slow, but the years go fast." That's what someone told Jenn when she became a parent. But lately, both the years and the days seem to fly past. Why's that? And what's better: Tooth Mummy or Tooth Fairy? There's only one right answer. Happy Friday everyone!

Two spellings. Two meanings. Dillon continues to celebrate good times. What could be better?

So there are a lot of bangs and loud noises in this episode because of a guest in the room in the room, which isn't a large space. Apologies if it hurts your ears. We're hoping for unity. Biden talks about unity. Dillon talks in a robot voice. A late one for Jenn and Dillon, but they wish all the world well. Except for that runner. Oy!

What to do on the last day of Trump's presidency? Launch your new business! Dillon has a new idea for a service that cut's your kid's hair while delivering an attitude adjustment. Dillon will only be providing this service on the weekends... we have school. 

It's Monday! Not Friday! And we did it. Another day of homeschooling? Check! Enough said. And really that's all. We got nothing, but we're still here! Maybe Dillon has it right and we should celebrate.

Celebrate good times! It's the weekend! So, Dillon had an awful teacher today. But what can we say? Homeschooling was rough.  Is Jenn secretly dating the Sky man? Spoiler alert: noooo! And there's a toot for good measure before we go off for supper.

Jenn tries to rejoice in imperfectionism. She's also real excited about Dillon's drama schoolwork. Whereas Dillon is only excited about his new virtual escapism. Dillon plans a secret mission.

We almost got distracted by distraction itself, but managed to almost stay on track. Why did Mummy cry? Aren't we all crying, really? But the main point: poo can save your life. Seriously. Also, the children's news report here is very refreshing as there's no battle between reality and Fox News. Just reality. And our reality is that all is well in the room in the room.

We managed to record while it was still light out. It gets dark pretty early here in London, so that was amazing. But then we fell asleep recording our own podcast. More importantly, everyone's entitled to their own opinion (but we still wish Daddy would watch the TV show we like.)
