The Rhetoric Rick Show

Fiction EN ↓ 191 episodes

I'm just on here to gripe about everyday life but I realize that somehow there's a silver lining! That silver lining is just us getting older and wiser. Everything is not right or wrong, left or right, or even good or bad. Everything is greyscaled at best.

Episodes

Spotify takeover and public areas 14.03.2023

In this episode, I cover that Spotify took over Anchor and the possible outcomes of the show. Also, my gripes about people in public areas and how they don't care to pick up after themselves.

Why is everyone more successful than me? 08.03.2023

Why does it seem like everyone is making more money than me or just has a better life than me? I get into this facade in this episode.

Riding in elevators 07.03.2023

Elevators - we all use them, we all love and hate them due to the awkwardness when we enter and ride with other people. What's your story?

Restaurant and kids 06.03.2023

This is an age-old debate for me. Why I agree that people should be able to have a night out away from minors.

Day off challenges and work woes 22.02.2023

Vacations and days off - fantastic right? Well, I cover the day that you come back to the office/work/school and the pitfalls of trying to remember what you do or were working on. This segways me to the next topic, the moment you realize that you hate your job - how I handled this.

Random morning rant and a bad situation is a blessing 17.02.2023

Today I talk about an incident at Starbucks and the building elevator. Both happened this morning. Also, when a bad situation can be a blessing in disguise.

Walkers during rush hour, office luncheons 16.02.2023

Runners, joggers, and bicyclists that like to work out during rush hour traffic. You know who I'm talking about. Yes, the same people that you have to wait at a red light for when you actually have somewhere to go and they obviously don't. That and how about your coworkers who want to insert their ideas towards company-catered lunches but then decide not to show up? You're starting to feel me!

My work disappointment and people who leave doors open 15.02.2023

I received the call I never wanted to get. No, I'm not being cut or demoted. I'm just not being promoted (the whole reason I came up to Portland). This and why people leave a door open when it's really cold/hot outside - who knows?

Bad weather drivers and Valentine's Day thoughts 14.02.2023

You know someone, or you probably are, a bad driver when the weather is ugly. It's dangerous and inconsiderate. That and why I believe Valentine's Day is a scam.

Traffic lights, recession, adult decision making 13.02.2023

Have you ever noticed how some traffic lights are 'smarter' than others? One will detect that you're waiting at a red light and switch quickly while others will make you wait the timed cycle regardless of traffic. There are a lot of the 'others' out here in Portland. Who's afraid of the big, bad recess - I kinda am. Also, remember how decision-making was so much easier when we were younger.

Rude workers, antiquated employees, Flavia machines 10.02.2023

I know I talk a lot about being kind and generous with service workers but what about when they're rude and unattentive? In line with this topic, I cover employees that been at their jobs way too long. Lastly, my first gripe regarding a product - Flavia coffee machines. Spoiler: they're not good.

Work drama, early morning people, and parking 09.02.2023

Workplace drama is unavoidable - so I'm told. I miss the days when I had the office and streets to myself in the a.m. Lastly, parking is horrible and the way people park are mavericks.

Restaurant, street trash, and construction worker rant 07.02.2023

What is it with chain restaurants and their long waits? What about people who just leave their trash on the street? What about construction workers when they're using common areas while dirty? I briefly cover these three topics on today's episode.

Unsolicited advise I don't want. 01.02.2023

Have you ever told anyone your goals/plans/wishes and they proceed to tell you what you should do, or why that's not a good idea, or just have opinions that you didn't ask for? Of course, you have.  I go over a recent incident that happened to me and how I handled it.

2023 me and airport rants 31.01.2023

Where have I been? I briefly cover what's been going on and my show plans for this year. I  also have my travel rants - TSA & kids!

End of Year show 15.12.2022

What I've been up to lately and end-of-year thoughts. Oh, and holiday travel gripe.

My time away and airing 'dirty' laundry on social media. 12.09.2022

Yes, I've been away for a few weeks now. What's been going on and what have I been doing? You'll find out. Also, why do people put their 'business' out there and wear it like a badge of honor? What makes it honorable? My opinion on this episode.

The bathroom episode 12.08.2022

Before you report me - hear me out. I go over a listener-inspired idea of bathroom pet peeves. You know you have them too, I'm just sharing mine.

The 'Work on Yourself' episode 29.07.2022

I go over what I've been doing these last few weeks to better myself internally and externally. What book I'm reading that has changed my perspective and why should as well.

My firs re-recorded episode, truck parking, monkeypox 25.07.2022

I go over why I had decided to re-record this episode. What is it with trucks and giant SUV's parking next to my small car and will monkeypox backtrack our society again?

Dealing with emotional pain 11.07.2022

This is a follow-up from my Ghosting v. 3.0 ways of getting over emotional pain and how to deal with it. These are ways that help me and I'm not offering any medical advice. We all deal with it in our own ways - I just want  to be more productive about it.  'Not Nice' by Dr. Aziz Gazipura: https://www.audible.com/pd/Not-Nice-Audiobook/B077S3C5F9?qid=1657551896&sr=1-1&ref=a_search...

Ghosting 3.0 and dealing with it 08.07.2022

The third part of ghosting. This time I talk abut actually being ghosted instead of doing it. I'm still okay with it. I cover why and how I deal with it.

Roe v. Wade protests and social media 'news' 27.06.2022

It's been a few days since the overturn and of course there have been protests. Are protests productive and efficient when we go on a freeway and block everyday traffic? Someone posts a 10-15 clip of confrontations with police and people 'jump' to the comments to say how wrong the police are. Do we not wait for the whole story anymore?

Mid Year thoughts 24.06.2022

What I learned from myself during my vacation time in L.A. My direction in life (both socially and professionally). This and some of the proclivities that we're facing as a society right now. Workplace gossip, Teal Downs and false idols 09.06.2022

A TikTok came out explaining why you shouldn't gossip with people at work - duh!!! My one-minute fascination with Teal Downs and how she, and her show, might just be a parody or mockumentary. If real, why you shouldn't follow charlatans like her and especially anyone in the clergy.
