The idea of prayer gets thrown around quite often. When bad things happen we see #PrayFor_________ , but do those prayers matter or is it simply something we say to make us feel better? This week we are looking at whether our prayers truly make any difference at all or is it the same as a person sharing good vibes.

The Bible may be old, but it is certainly not irrelevant. The book of James was written around 1,975 years ago, but what we are studying this weekend is applicable for the events of today. Join us Sunday to hear what James had to say about prejudice and love.

Over the years much of the change we’ve seen or experienced has been precipitated by people’s words. Things they’ve said or written have brought about great change. The reality is, words have power. And our words will make an impact. The questions is, “will that be a positive or negative impact?” Join us this weekend as we hear what James has to say about the power of words.

True wisdom is not so much measured by how much knowledge a person has, but rather the depth of their character.

Throughout the years there have been a variety of teachings about what people need to say or do to get to heaven. This weekend we are going to look at what James has to say about Faith (Strong belief in God as Lord) and action in an effort to better understand what part our actions play in our relationship with God. 

Sometimes life is hard and we wonder if we can really go on. Can we keep putting one foot in front of the other? I’m thankful the Bible isn’t only full of stories about the good times, because sometimes life doesn’t feel all that good and I need encouragement, hope, direction, and survival tips. James addresses the hard times in this week’s message.

Do you ever wonder if you waited too long? If only you had started doing that important thing earlier, when you were younger. Is it too late? This week we are going to take a look at who James is and see how he had a change of direction and purpose later than some people may think he should have.

What does it look like to be God’s friends? Jesus tells us we are not simply his servants or minions, but we are his friends. This week we are going to talk about what that means for us.

Satan is a liar. Sometimes he will give you names that God hasn’t given you. You then start listening and accepting these names, names like failure, loser, worthless. They usually aren’t positive names since what is good comes from God. This week we are going to look at another one of the things God affirms in us as Christians. What does it mean we he tells us we are adopted?

As Christians, we are a part of the same family. Like our earthly families, there are a lot of differences, but, in spite of those differences, we are expected to stand united.

Love is a word that gets thrown around in a variety of different ways. We love a certain food. We love our significant others. We love things like music, reading, camping, fishing, cooking, the Vikings, etc. The word love is used for a lot of situations, so what does it mean when God says he loves us and, specifically, what does that mean for me?

Do you ever feel like you have done something so bad it would be hard or impossible to forgive? Or maybe it’s the opposite and you feel pretty good about life and don’t have anything “bad” you need forgiven for. This week we are going to look at how God views forgiveness and how sees you in light of the forgiveness he offers.

Do you ever wonder why the Bible is broke up into Old Testament and New Testament? Do you understand the role of all those rules in the Old Testament? Do you wonder if they all still apply to you? And if that isn’t what God expects, what does he expect?

Easter is the time when we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection after taking on himself the wrongs of all humankind. It is because of what Jesus did, we can be forever changed. It is because of what Jesus did, there is hope in a world of uncertainty. He is risen. He is risen indeed!

Do you ever wish you could do something amazing for God? Maybe something that would impact the world…or at least your entire community? Something that would get you noticed. You’re not alone. What if God is asking you to do something equally challenging, but not as attention grabbing? Would you do it? Join us this week as we see Enoch’s example of doing one not-so-flashy thing well.

Do you feel average? Maybe worse than that, you feel insignificant. As we continue our look at Heroes Of The Faith, we are going to be checking out the life of Rahab. We will see how God used someone who many would have said was insignificant to impact all of eternity.

Ben Franklin once said, “but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.” The reality is, one day we will all die, so this week we are looking at how God’s plan for you is much bigger than you and your lifetime. This week we will be talking about the life of Joseph, who believed God to be a God who keeps his promises.

Abraham didn't have to understand what God was doing, to follow where he was leading. When God asks Abraham to do the unthinkable, he doesn't question it.

Are you dealing with doubt? It's not unusual to doubt. God is not afraid of our doubts. Don’t ignore the doubt but truly seek Him!

God did amazing things through an imperfect, obedient person, and He wants amazing things for you.

Christ in me enables me to live like Him. Living like Christ allows people to see him through me. None of this is possible without Christ

Serving in love requires us to be in community with other Christians.  Being courteous isn't the same as being loving.  Love should be passionate.  Love means we help meet each others needs.  This week in our Disciple series we covered Romans 12:9-13

The Church should be one of the most diverse places on the planet.

Our relationships with other people crumble because pride tells us to keep ourselves first, and our relationship with Jesus is broken because we care more about our reputation than listening to Him and doing what He says.
