The Rescue Church

Have you seen one of those games where a player accidentally scores on their own team? Often in life we are told to get what we can while we can. We’re told that is how we win. But what if that isn’t really the answer? This weekend we will see how Jesus says we can be blessed.

There is an emptiness people are trying to fill in their lives. Many people, including followers of Jesus, are searching for something to give themselves purpose and meaning. This weekend we will look at why you may feel this way and some practical ways to address these very real feelings.

Many of us want to make an impact on the world around us. This week we are going to learn about one characteristic that enables us to do just that in the lives of those we come in contract with. It will help with everything from parenting to leading in organizations you are a part of. We hope you’ll join us for week 3 of Blessed.

Do you believe God wants to bless you? Jesus actually laid out eight ways we can be blessed in life during one of his earliest teachings. This week we will look at the first of these eight ways we can be blessed and discuss some specific ways that teaching can be applied.

There is a good chance that you had a vision of what your life would look life as you finished high school or college. There is also a good chance you life has not gone exactly as you had planned or expected. As we start this new Christmas series, we are going to see how an angel’s appearance to Mary would change the plans she and Joseph had for their future, and what we can learn from it.

Sometimes organizations and people look like we have it all together, but behind the scenes we miss the point. This week we will look at what has been called a letter to “a dead church”. They were missing out on God’s best. How about you? Are you missing out on God’s best for your life?

As people we see what’s on the outside. It’s easy to get hung up on how a person looks, their financial status or physical abilities. Over and over again we see in the Bible where God sees things differently. He doesn’t see things the way we do. He sees what really matters. This is what we are looking at this week.

In life there are things we simply put up with. We tolerate them. It may not be what we would have chosen, but it is what it is. Maybe we should ask ourselves whether or not, in our tolerance we are missing out on God’s best for our lives? We will explore that question this week.

As we begin our new series, You’ve Got Mail, we are looking at some of what Jesus said to churches at the end of the first century AD to see what we can learn. There is certainly practical advice to learn from as Jesus addressed the church in Ephesus, but is followed by a challenge. We’re looking at this challenge this weekend.

A lot has happened in the world and in The Rescue Church over the past 18 months. Despite all of those changes, God hasn’t changed and his purposes for the church haven’t changed. While our Heavenly Father is steady in his purposes, the methods sometimes need to be adjusted, to be recalibrated.

In this series we are reviewing purposes of the Church. This week we are looking at worship. We’re going to see what we mean when we say “worship” as well as why and how we worship. During our time together you will see the impact worship can have on you and me. 

When people look back on your life, what will they say? The great news is you are still here and you still have time to define your legacy. This week we will take a look at the life of a woman who left a powerful legacy, how she did it and see how we can also leave a legacy we can be proud of.

You probably already know this, but we weren’t meant to go through life alone. Life has highs and lows. We need people to celebrate the highs with us and to help us navigate the lows. This week we will see what we can learn from how this looked for Onesimus.

All of us go through hard or challenging times. It is part of life. And when we have those tough seasons, we need people in our lives who love us and will encourage us to keep moving forward to be who God intended us to be. This week we will look again at Philemon’s life to see how he encouraged others, and what we can learn from it.

Do you ever find your days, weeks, years, or even your life as a whole isn’t going how you expected it to go? Maybe you are living in a different place than you planned.
