our weekly installment of sonic weirdness in the form of The Psychedelicatessen ! This week starts off with some of my favourite bubblegum psych of the '60s and then we will find ourselves getting into more established psych rock bands. I'm throwing in some sets by Love, The Seeds, and The Kinks at various times, too.

I have quite the journey in store for this one. There's a lot of material that would fit on Progotron in this episode. Gong, King Crimson, and Hawkwind are all in the mix. Then we're going to veer towards jazz fusion and outright jazz as we include The Mahavishnu Orchestra and Miles Davis. We'll have some familiar psychedelic touch points like Iron Butterfly and Country Joe & the Fish in there...

Each summer I book "Woodstock Week" off of work and I re-watch the Director's Cut of the film. I also look to present music from the festival in a new way for this show and I think I did it! This year, it's a continuous listening experience without voice breaks from me. We're starting off with Lee Hazlewood, we'll check out a couple from John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, and the entire second side of a classic album from '67. There's some interesting covers and some long & weird musical trips.

Last week we played modern psychedelic rock on The Psychedelicatessen and this week everything is from 1966. This music was written and recorded in which LSD was still legal! Perhaps that's where it gets its special & authentic aura of weird... We'll hear The Beatles, 13th Floor Elevators, The Music Machine, The Electric Prunes, The Mamas and the Papas, Count Five, and a whole lot more!

his week's edition of The Psychedelicatessen is going to be a little different; it's all modern psych! There's nothing older than 2005 in this one but it's just as weird as you'd expect. We have The Black Angels, the Magic Shoppe, The Flying Eyes, Allah-Las, Fuzz Aldrin, and a lot more. It's modern psych, desert rock, and stoner rock all fitting a fine summer evening!
