Welcome to episode fourteen of The Pool Man Podcast, and I have to say that even though we’re only in May of 2023, I’m going to call it and announce that the swimming season is over for the year!!  A lot of my customers are now asking me the same question that I normally get around this time of year: Should I get a pool heater?

Last time I was talking about how to get your pool ready for summer, sadly we haven’t had much of a summer this year, at least in the traditional sense of the word. It’s been uncharacteristically wet, and as I record this episode the rain is still pounding down outside the window.

At the beginning of a new pool season I would normally recommend that you enlist the services of a pool service technician, but in the current climate, you may struggle to find one, at least in Sydney and Melbourne, but it’s not all doom and gloom because I’m about to give you some tips to kick-start your pool and get it up to spec yourself for the coming summer season.

In this episode we'll discuss the best way to maintain your salt water chlorinator, and in particular, the salt cell.

Winter means cold. It's time to lock your pools down into winter-mode. Call your local pool technicial and ask the to do a winter maintenance service and grab some good quality copper-based algicide to protect the water in the cooler months. BUT DON'T TURN IT OFF ALL TOGETHER!!
