Another lesson from the story of Jonathan is on giving honor and value to all people. Every person is worthy of our time, interest, and honor. A person's usefulness is NOT their worthiness.

What Jonathan left behind was his impact on David - who became a mighty king - and the covenant they created was what ensured his lineage stayed intact long after his death.

Jonathan showed up for David many times in his story. Showing up for someone else can make a huge difference in helping them become who they are meant to be.

Jesus came to be with us, love us, and ultimately give Himself for us, showing us how to live and lead others well. In the same way throughout Scripture we are called to walk with people, help them grow, and pour our lives into others.

In Genesis God says it is not good for man to be alone. You need a small group of people - a tribe - who is WITH you throughout seasons of your life.

You are a person that somebody needs. God has put something in you that needs to shine.

Jesus is recorded as saying "Take Heart" multiple times some 1,000 years after Jonathan. This phrase encompasses many different things to check in your life, which we explore on today's episode.

Today we learn about what it means to be strong and courageous, which is often what follows the statement, "do not be afraid" in the Bible.

There is a strength that comes when we find what makes us come to life. But, we must prepare so that we're ready when the time comes to do what we were made for.

Jonathan was a man of valor, which means a strength of mind or spirit. We can trust God in hard times to give us a strength we may not have thought was possible.

Even after Samuel foretells the end of Saul's reign as king, Jonathan continues to live as a leader and a warrior. He devastates a Philistine army with only his armor-bearer and one sword, which sparks a rally of his army to victory. Although the complete victory was stalled by Saul's incompetence, Jonathan's courage was established.

Remember that God is for you. He has a plan for you and will help you discover your identity in Him if you walk in His steps.

Jonathan had favor because he was a child of the king. When we accept Christ, we are also children of the King and are favored by Him.

God has a plan for your life. He can take any pain or circumstance and make it better through His plan.

Jonathan's legacy was vast, but his biggest part was how he invested in David. Your legacy is marked by the souls that your thumbprints are on.

Jonathan's friendship and investment into David changed the course of history, and left a legacy no one would have predicted.

As the first King and Prince of Israel, Saul and Jonathan quickly veer towards different paths. Saul never quite understands the weight of his role, while Jonathan becomes a great warrior despite finding out he will never take his father's place.
