The Parenting Podcast: Growing and Learning Together
Parenting is tough, I get it, but I don't think it needs to be so hard! I'm sure you would agree that it is by far one of the most challenging jobs as a human being you will ever encounter while at the same time being the most exhilarating, heart warming and rewarding time too. Our children don't come with an instruction manual but with the right mindset, knowledge and understanding of your developing child and a good set of positive strategies to support, communicate and connect, life becomes a beautiful collaboration of positive and empowered parenting between you and your child.

I see very good practitioners, in any field, not just education being promoted to management positions and then quickly falling flat on their face! The all singing, all dancing management position you've wanted for so long is all very well, but what training have you had to actually deal with the people? Especially when the going gets tough?! In this episode, I share with you how to navigate...
Leadership: The Know, Like and Trust Factor 26.09.2024 20:10
I love this topic! If you are someone who has just started in a leadership role, leading and managing people is absolutely key to the success of your nursery. Being Captain of your Ship is a game changer with no need for authoritarian, top down management (I can't even call that leadership!). It just doesn't work, people don't want that in the way they work any more. Being with your team, knowing your role, knowing that you are there as their safe ha...
Leadership: The Gift of Time 26.07.2024 19:20
In this episode, I hope I can give you some inspiration to understand that giving yourself the gift of TIME is so essential, whether you're a Nursery Manager, Nursery Owner (any leader in fact) or a parent. You cannot give 100% of your energy, focus and give it your full attention, if you don't make time for yourself first. You cannot lead a team or a family on 40% for very long that&ap...
Helping your child deal with disappointment and rejection 30.04.2024 10:49
These big emotions and feelings are horrendous to deal with don't you think? They come to all of us through out our lives and being emotional intelligent is absolute key when it comes to navigate, manage and move through them, without allowing them to take over. It's such a good idea to teach our children about these big emotions from an early age. In this episode, I share how I supp...
Talking to your child about death 15.03.2024 17:08
I had a chat with a mummy recently and she wasn't sure how to talk to her son about her mum who had passed away. It's interesting because we expect children to react in the same way about death as we do, but more often the not and the younger they are, they see it as an event with little emotion, but they will have plenty of questions. In this episode I explore how children respond and h...
I give you permission to spend some time on YOU! 21.02.2024 11:28
Following a lovely conversation with one of my mummies, she had an epiphany and realised that by allowing herself to take time to fill her own emotional bucket and spending time on herself, meant that she was emotionally available for her child more of the time. It's a must! So, I allow you permission to take some time out and focus on you. You are so worth it. If you find this episode hel...

How to become emotionally intelligent when your child's behaviour triggers you 13.02.2024 19:51
I was triggered recently. I saw a dad lose it with his child who was having a disagreement with their sibling, pushed them out of the door of the shop in front of everyone...by the ear! It was unpleasant to watch. I try so hard not to judge anyone because you never know what's going on for parents and children but this was a tough one I must say. However, I do believe that whatever is going o...

Parenting is tough, but it doesn't need to be so hard: How I can help make family life easier 30.01.2024 26:59
Welcome to my world of Parenting, made easier . I thought I'd give a little Intro as to why I'm in this space and how I can help you. E31 Am I Molly Coddling or Emotionally Available? 23.01.2024 12:57
In this episode, I share my recent experience on being told I was molly coddling when my grandson fell over. I have reframed my thoughts on this one. To help Children become emotionally intelligent, we have to be emotionally available when they need us. Each moment can be seen as a learning opportunity which is what happened here. I hope it helps to look at things a little differently. If you f...
*Christmas Special* Help! I don't want to go anywhere near Santa! 15.12.2023 9:03
In this Christmas Special episode, I help you see that it's not always a good idea to encourage, force, help and assume that our children will want to sit on Santa's lap, or go anywhere near him for that matter! It's important that we listen to our children and not assume that they'll be ok with it. They have feelings and emotions in the same way that we do and when we don&apos...

E29 Why don't we need a degree to have a child?! 02.11.2023 29:38

E28 Let's STOP labelling them and take responsibility to teach, guide and show our children! 24.10.2023 19:42
I'm all for Early intervention. It is imperative to make sure children have the right support at the right time and I am the first to champion that child and get that support for them. However, I do think we are labelling our children too quickly. I believe that children who express challenging behaviour need something else from us before we start going down the road and labelling and fixing...
E27 They're not listening! Really? Let's look at it another way 17.10.2023 16:45
It's a phrase that I get a tad frustrated by as you'll hear in this episode! Children are born to hear but we need to teach them to listen, it's not something they do automatically, unless they are super engaged. As their teacher, role model, guide and superhero, it would be wise for us to take a step back and evaluate what we expect from our children when we want them to listen an...
E26 Listen up! Put Your Own Mask on First! 13.10.2023 19:41
Ok, I'm serious! I say it to my parents so many times but no-one takes me seriously. It's time to listen up and make sure you take time for yourself. It's not selfish, it's not neglectful, it's not going to harm them, it's a vital non-negotiable ingredient to parenting that simply must be taken seriously. I'll share why in this episode. By the end of it, I ho...
E25 Parent Leader or Parent Boss? 12.09.2023 31:40

If we are to change generational negative parenting st...
