Biggest day yet - 65 miles! Beaten the previous by about 10 miles. A great downhill through canyon lands started the day until we hit the road. After struggling on gravel next to it we quickly hopped on the main road for some fast miles. A quick visit to the Salton sea made us never want to go back and the evening involved cycling into a big headwind as we made it to Indio/Coachella in a sandstorm...

A great day in the desert, we left the badlands and headed to Borrego Springs where we had a fantastic lunch and got some wifi in the state park centre. The afternoon consisted of marvelling over some incredible desert statues. Tom also gives us some great facts about vultures!

A day back in the proper desert and it was fantastic! What a day! After debating whether to do the desert crossing due to a serious lack of food in the little shop, the owner Mark cooked us a fantastic meal we headed into the desert. Despite some sandy sections we had a fantastic day making our way through canyons.

After only doing 8 miles by 12:00 we ended up with a nice 43 miles. Some great riding on and off road with some chunky climbs took us deeper into the mountains and some proper single track! We also met a man with a fantastic moustache and an all American action man!

Our first full day in the US and we left the Baja Divide route. After finding our planned route blocked and adding an extra 30 miles we headed up some big hills into the San Diego mountains and towards the SoCal desert ramble bike packing route.

We made it to the United States!! Another great day lead us to Tecate along some great trails (where we went the wrong way) and then speedy roads. The international border crossing went smoothly enough despite Sam not having the correct documentation and we were finally in America. A little on edge being in a new country we found a nice camp spot and slept well.

Our final night in Mexico! It was quite a big day and a great days riding. A fair climb started the day in the hills and a fantastic decent ended it. After being harassed by thousands of ants we abandoned our first camp spot and found another near an abandoned hostel.

A lovely mornings riding along some smooth roads with a great temperature and stunning views. Getting to Ojos Negros we took a long while to decide whether to have the afternoon off or not. A chance meeting made our decision and we had a fantastic afternoon and evening!

A morning on the road gave some easy miles where we had a big breakfast stop as we finally had some good internet. We climbed some big hills and headed back out the cloud into the sun. We also had another puncture!!

We woke to rain, yuck! After packing up had some great fun racing each other along what was pretty much a pump track. Some great coast riding where we saw a range great of sea life. The first puncture of the trip finally happened!

We almost ran over another rattlesnake and this was a close one!! The day started with one of the best descents yet through a valley which had a stream where we managed to wash our legs and socks - which was very much needed. We had a great couple of interactions with some people in town which really does sum up traveling in ‘unsafe’ countries.

A glorious day of fantastic bikepacking in the hills. After making our way through some fences and locked gates sharing the trail with hummingbirds we cracked into some technical downhill and hard pushing uphills. An expensive but very tasty lunch then lead to more climbing. More snakes and some proper grass!!

This is a good one! A slow morning with CEREAL then lead to hectic visit to town with some fantastic interactions with the locals. The afternoon was fantastic with some crazy David Attenborough style wildlife. The evening was hilarious due to us camping in someone’s driveway. Tune into listen to the carnage.

Waking up to rain, it was a slow and cold morning. The stoke picked up with some hilarious mud riding in the salt flats and along the beach. Back into town and back off road to finish the day off.

A much needed day on the road for two tired cyclist. The road took us from beautiful desert to the coastal agricultural land and clouds! And once again we camped near a corner on the road so the trucks were very loud. And despite camping under a signal tower we still don’t have any internet.

After choosing the off-road option and it being super rough we quickly crossed a kilometre of scrubland and hastily got back on the road which was lovely. We found another bike tourer and camped next to a very loud road.

The 100 mile stretch is done! A long uphill of uphill ticked off. Some fantastic boulders, a smooth downhill and an expensive but tasty burger finished the day off. Find out our thoughts on the star link satellites as well

A big day, the biggest yet but it can only be described as a perfect day! Find out why and find out what lizard racing is!

Water was the theme of the day. Somehow we managed to fit 22.5 litres of water on our bikes between us and we set off on some rough roads towards El Cardon. It turns out El Cardon wasn’t much of a village with a total population of 0. We did although become Jack and Jill and fetch some water out of the well for back up before we set off into 100 miles with no food or water stops!

After battling a big headwind, sea spray and a sparse environment, we happily tucked into some delicious fish tacos and slept on the floor of the restaurant - a new first!

A savage headwind started the day but by lunch we were on a fantastic road that led into the hills. A spot of lizard racing kept us entertained until we reach a fantastic mission village complete with hot pools and a roof over our heads.

Our toughest day yet. Sam’s still suffering with sores, low on water and in almost 40*C heat we struggled to get to Bahia de Los Angeles. Eyes drying out when cycling along from the heat and simple breathing made you thirsty. Tune in to see how we faired.

Another sandy hot day through a hard section. The boys were low on water and very thirsty but a fantastic cold drink at a ranch and water from a fisherman saved the day. A cool swim in the sea finished it off nicely.

A detour from the baja route to avoid sand was semi successful. The sparse services and Sam’s saddle sores made the day a hard one. Luckily the scenery and an incredible dinner made up for it!
