The Night Train®

2 people. Playing records while tired. Some of the mixes are good, some of them are not so good. The selection is all killer though so it’s worth uploading. It does finish abruptly so don’t be alarmed. Shout-out to the Sunday Night Listeners, you heard it all! As always, get in touch with requests, recommendations and guest mix inquiries! https://www.instagram.com/radionighttrain/ https://bsky.app...

What a week. We’ll be honest, we’d kinda forgotten that we hadn’t uploaded the show. Once again, we’re thinking “we should just do it on Sunday night when we get home”. Perhaps we will this week. Keep your eyes peeled. This show has got us playing some music but more importantly, it’s got a Studio One 45s Guest Mix from Rob BD6. It’s a doozy so we’ll probably upload it clean at some point so you c...

Look. It’s not our fault this upload has taken so long. It genuinely was out of our hands. We’re not gonna apologise either. If you tuned in on a Sunday, you’d have already heard it by now! Anyway, that’s way more confrontational than is probably needed. This week, we’re debriefing after a busy October. Hear about what we’ve been up to and what we’ve been listening to. We’re back on Sunday with a...

Alright folks? Hope you’re well. Hope your pets are doing OK. It’s Guy Fawkes Night here in England so that means plenty of fireworks. Not too dissimilar to our very first show 9 years ago. We thought for our birthday we’d play some normal music. Hits, some might say. And SPOILER ALERT no drones. We know, we’ve shocked ourselves. Have we sold out? Does it matter? Will a poppier sound make us more...

As we are on the cusp of celebrating 9 years of amazing broadcasts on Community Radio, we thought we'd give you a "treat" for this week and upload the very first show. Marvel at how far we've come as "broadcasters". Not sure we've listened back to this since we did the upload waaaaaaay back. Hope it's not too bad. We'll be back in the studio on Sunday with a reports from our weekend in Manchester,...

Howdy folks. You’re in for a TREAT with this show. That’s because we sourced a SMOKIN’ guest mix of Colombian Heat from friend of the show, Phillie B. The rest of the show isn’t too shabby either, with a nice blend of old music, new music and some new old music. Probably won’t be a live show on Sunday as we’re on extensive party manoeuvres this weekend so we’ll be tucked up in bed. Get in touch wi...

Back in the studio, no records, just music and hot chat. Press play to hear about what we’ve been up to (party manoeuvres), where we’ve been (Belgium), what we’ve Shazamed etc etc etc. I’m tired so I can’t elaborate much more. I want to go to bed. Howdy folks. Apologies for leaving you without a show for the last two weeks. We had hoped to line-up a little bonus episode from another show we like but that’ll have to wait for another time. This week’s show is an “All 45s Live” special! We’ve raided the racks and somehow pulled out a pretty good show. Even if we do say so ourselves. Each set has a theme so it’s pretty cohesive. A rarity for us...

Evenin’ all. Here’s Sunday’s show. It’s a bit late but we think it’s worth the wait. It’s a “normal” show, nothing too out of the ordinary but we’re pretty proud of it. Even better, there’s a bonus song for you, the listen again crew. Don’t say we do nothing for you. All being well, we’ll be back in the studio on Sunday for show #367 which means we’ll be playing 7” records. Get in touch with reque...

Last week’s show was pretty intense so as a counterpoint, this show isn’t. It’s got a few beats, a few funky jams but mainly it’s cuts that you’d expect in the final set of Hour 2. We like it, hopefully you will. It’s ok if you don’t. Music’s not for everyone. Hopefully back next week for a Solo Steve Show. He doesn’t know what he’s going to do. A few ideas are floating around so it should be ok....

Two of us. Playing records that we’d like to hear/have heard at Carnival. There were a few technical problems but we’ve done our best to edit them out. It’s possibly a new record, 2 within the first 8 minutes. Back next week with a bit of a more professional operation. Two presenters? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localised entirely within you the Sheffield Live studio? Can I listen? Yes you can! Just press play. Some tales this week of what we’ve been up to while not on presenting duties and it all gets a bit dancy around the middle. Remember, you can join us live (almost) every Sunday 9pm-11pm on SheffieldLive! 93.2fm,...

Another week, another solo show. Do the presenters even like each other? Will they ever present a show together again? Is the show better when it’s only one of them in the studio? So many questions, so many answers we may never find out. This week, Steve was flying solo. So he was playing stuff he liked. As you can guess, there was some OSEES and some Mary Lattimore. The other stuff is also good....

The music was good. The hosting was not. There's no hiding behind your co-host on a solo show, so a stinking hangover was not the optimum preparation for such an endeavour. I hung myself out to dry here, so tune in and revel in my struggles. I don't even mention the station name once! Incredible. But the music saves the day... A heap of fresh cuts from TNT's perennial favourite artists. Hot global...

Mornin’ all. Getting this upload into the feed as quick as possible as it’s going to be a busy week. Steve flew solo last night so took his laptop in and played a bunch of songs. It’s nothing too groundbreaking as it’s mainly songs we’ve played on the show before. They’re all killer though, so they demand repeat airing. There’s some guitars, the customary long-ish song to start the show and settle...

Get this in your ears, tout suite. It’s the latest edition of our little ol’ show. There’s the usual gubbins but the main event is a guest mix from singer, songwriter, photographer, and visual artist Sylvia Solanas. It’s a wonder mix and quite frankly, puts what we do in shade. Even better, because of the guest mix we didn’t do a Chicken Special. That’ll have to wait until 2025. PLEASE NOTE : All...

Do these blurbs get shorter every week? Perhaps they do. You don’t come here for the blurbs though. You come here for the quality tunes and top-draw chat. This show has both in spades. Howdy folks. How are you all? Hope you're well. We're doing OK. Mondays are always a bit of a slog and the mood tends to be dictated somewhat by how good the show was the previous day. Thankfully, yesterday's show was a doozy. As it was show 357, we played 7inch records for 2 hours. We didn't really do much planning but the we kinda knew what each other packed, so it kinda worked. Well, we think i...

Look. It’s been a long day. Nobody reads these things anyway. It’s a show. It’s been uploaded on Monday so that should be enough. Tune in next week to hear us play 45s. That’s always a laugh as it’s the sound of two people semi-panicking while frantically looking through records to play. Remember, you can join us live (almost) every Sunday 9pm-11pm on SheffieldLive! 93.2fm, via the TuneIn Radio Ap...

Here it is, the rarest of rare things over the summer… a show with two presenters! We dragged our sorry asses into the studio for the first time in what felt like AGES to do a show. As is always the way, there’s new music, old music and new old music. Remember, you can join us live (almost) every Sunday 9pm-11pm on SheffieldLive! 93.2fm, via the TuneIn Radio App or www.sheffieldlive.org Get in tou...

Last night’s show. It’s a bit rough around the edges but that’s ‘cause it was all done live ‘n’ direct and on the fly. As it wasn't a massive disaster, I might do the same again next week. But with more jungle. - Steve Remember, you can join us live (almost) every Sunday 9pm-11pm on SheffieldLive! 93.2fm, via the TuneIn Radio App or www.sheffieldlive.org Get in touch with requests, recommendations...

SURPRISE! It’s a Monday AM upload for you. Don’t get used to it. We talked ourselves into a corner which meant we "had" to do the upload tonight. Anyway, here’s the latest show. Hot off the airwaves. No theme this week. Just music and the two of us. Remember, you can join us live (almost) every Sunday 9pm-11pm on SheffieldLive! 93.2fm, via the TuneIn Radio App or www.sheffieldlive.org Get in touch...

Ahoy-hoy radio fans! Back in the studio after an unexpected (but much needed) week off. It’s weird, we only missed one show but it’s like we’ve never done it before. Perhaps we’re gettin’ old. (we’re definitely gettin’ old). This week, we dedicated the last hour to the sad news of Steve Albini’s passing. There are extensive show notes this week which are well worth your time if you're that wa...
