Ep 31 — Doogal (w/ Oliver Howard) 25.06.2026

With Oliver returning as a guest once again, the three brothers achieved the unthinkable: they all thought of the exact same movie to pick. And that movie is none other than Doogal (2005) AKA The Magic Roundabout — a film so horrible that it scarred every brother as a traumatic experience. So why not watch it again? Get ready for a stacked cast of voices (each giving their worst performance of the...

Ep 30 — Milo & Otis 29.05.2026

Hoping for a calm, cozy watch, Nathan suggests revisiting Milo & Otis (1986)...with the heavy asterisk that there was probably a lot of animal abuse behind the scenes. The brothers embark on a journey of cottage core vibes, concerning animal fight scenes, and a British narrator.

Ep 29 — Explorers 09.04.2026

The brothers revisit Explorers (1985), an E.T.-craze Joe Dante movie that affected Max in some big ways. Pop culture references, child actors, and goofy aliens all come into the mix.

Ep 28 — CJ7 26.02.2026

Max and Nathan walk down memory lane with CJ7 (2008), a Chinese family film about a boy and his alien buddy. But it's also about kung fu bullies, the "HIGH-TECH" toy industry, and generational class struggle. Oh, and also machine gun poops.

Ep 27 — Black Hole 29.01.2026

In a post Star Wars Hollywood, Disney combined their best minds together to make their response: a B movie version of 2001: A Space Odyssey that features a mad scientist, Anthony Perkins, and cartoony robot sidekicks with funny accents. Not to mention the otherworldly horrors of the edge of existence. Nathan takes a trip down memory lane with Black Hole (1979).

Ep 26 — Christmas Holiday Special: Jack Frost 25.12.2025

The classic Christmas story: kid has deadbeat dad, deadbeat dad dies, kid blows magical harmonica, deadbeat dad becomes snow man, snow man dad mooches off of kid and calls it "redemption". Max and Nathan revisit Jack Frost (1998), and along the way they explore magic snow man semantics, debate whether or not Michael Keaton is a good actor, and ask the most important question of all...is...

Ep 25 — Thanksgiving Special: Squanto 27.11.2025

Thanksgiving: a day of thankfulness, family, and love. But it's origins are much more complicated, and linked to horrifying events. There's no one better to explore the nuance and delicate nature of that story than a team of Disney exec producers in the 90's and Mandy Patinkin.

Ep 24 — Halloween Special: Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island 09.11.2025

As a post Halloween treat, the brothers watched Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998), a spooky, kooky, fun filled time. More monsters than you count, and a surprising amount of Cajun accents.

Ep 23 — G-Force 18.09.2025

Max chooses G-Force (2009) as the next watch — a Black Eyed Peas soundtracked spy movie about talking guinea pigs — and the brothers talk about Nicolas Cage, rodent genetics, and creepypasta fan fiction. I GOTTA FEELING!

Ep 22 — MirrorMask 15.08.2025

What is a mirror without a mask? What is a mask but a mirror of our own mask? What is a mirrormask with a mirror? What is mirror masking a mask mirrormasking mirror mask, you ask? If this made any sense you'll probably enjoy Nathan's pick for this week: the (unofficial) Creed music video from Jim Henson's productions, MirrorMask (2005)!

Ep 21 — Aladdin & The King of Thieves 17.07.2025

The '90s was a special time for Disney animated movies that gave us many classic masterpieces. Beauty & The Beast, The Lion King, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, etc. But obviously the most notable one is not Aladdin, nor Aladdin: The Return of Jafar. It's of course everyone's favorite: Aladdin & The King of Thieves (1996)! Join us in revisiting a movie we all know and love (which...

Ep 20 — Hidalgo 03.07.2025

Max revisits a badass cowboy racing movie from his childhood...only to find out it's actually just post 9/11 propaganda. The brothers delve into Hidalgo (2004)!

Ep 19 — Frog Dreaming/The Quest 12.06.2025

Nathan picks an Australian coming of age movie starring the kid from E.T., and somehow breaks Max's brain. Settle in for a down under nightmare with Frog Dreaming (1986).

Ep 18 — An Easter Special: Baby Huey's Great Easter Adventure 17.04.2025

What symbolizes Easter Sunday more than a giant idiot duck in a diaper? The brothers dive into Baby Huey's Great Easter Adventure (1999) to talk about the Brady Bunch, Bye Bye Birdie, and Babylon 5. Michael Angarano — if you're listening —Maximillian Howard is your biggest fan!

Gooby REDUX! — Anniversary Bonus Minisode 11.04.2025

In celebration of one year of TMTMOU, Nathan holds up to his promise: that he would rewatch Gooby if provided with a higher quality version. Thanks to the brilliant James Knight, Nathan was provided with a DVD and kept to his word. We do a short dive back into the depths of Gooby consciousness, Nathan fleshes out his thoughts, and Max gets to explore why he loves it so dearly.

Ep 17 — Wild America 27.02.2025

What encapsulates family entertainment better than the who's who of 90's pretty boys, animal adventures, and independent documentary filmmaking? The Howard brothers dive into Wild America (1997) and gush over the charming, all American wilderness vibes.

Ep 16 — Baby Geniuses 30.01.2025

As a child Max tortured the Howard family with Baby Geniuses (1999) many times, and it's back to torture Nathan again! Listen to hear the brothers explore the dark existential questions from baby ego death, while Max monologues about Boss Baby for far too long.

Ep 15 — Gumby: The Movie 16.01.2025

You ever want to go back to the good ol' days? Claymation, garage bands, and dogs that cry pearls. Back when you could drive into a book and save a farm from foreclosure. Does none of this make any sense to you? Join us in watching the imaginative Gumby: The Movie (1995) and open your eyes!

Ep 14 — A Christmas Special: Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas 26.12.2024

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and a lovely New Year to everyone! After our Fall/Winter hiatus we are back, and we’re starting with a short episode about the Howard family’s favorite holiday flick: Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas (1977). It is — quite genuinely — the best movie ever made. Watch it, enjoy it, and live your life happier. But also then come back and listen to us talk about it. See...

Ep 13 — A Spooky Special Pt. 2: Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge (w/ James Knight) 31.10.2024

Did you think we were done with the Halloweentownverse? Not at all. We're back again, and this time we've brought along with us a fantastic guest and friend of the show: James Knight! The best part is that James has not only never seen this one, but has never seen the first one. Tune in to find out does Kalabar get his revenge? Is cool Benny in the movie? Will Sophie finally get the respec...

Ep 12 — A Spooky Special Pt. 1: Halloweentown 10.10.2024

BoOOoOoOoOoOOo! It's the spooookiest time of the year. To celebrate, the brothers are diving into TWO Halloweenie trips down memory lane — starting with the DCOM Halloweentown (1998). A classic for many, a mystery for some, and all around great whimsigoth vibes. Shout out to our girl Sophie, a true day one. In two weeks, our second Halloween special will be coming out and with a mystery guest join...

Ep 11 — My Brother The Pig 26.09.2024

Brotherhood is a big theme of the show, and what's a better way to honor that then watching the racist painfully 90's Scarlett Johansson early work, My Brother The Pig (1999)? Listen in to hear Max embarrassed that this was his pick, and stay till the end for a wholesome reflection on the podcast so far for the brothers.

Ep 10 — Voyage of The Unicorn 12.09.2024

For the first time, the brothers tackle a limited series! A 4 hour fantasy epic, to be exact. Tune in to hear how Voyage of The Unicorn (2001) sucked out Max's will to live, while Nathan giggles about Beau Bridges.

Ep 9 — Barney's Great Adventure 15.08.2024

After watching Barney's Great Adventure (1998), the Howard brothers marvel over the crazy '90s — when the pitch for a Barney movie revolves around an alien koala named Twinkin' The Dream-maker that hatches from a rainbow egg. Gotta love those coked out producers.

Ep 8 — Rock-A-Doodle 01.08.2024

The Howard household is a Don Bluth household, and Nathan gives us our first taste of that through Rock-A-Doodle (1991). Nothing like some good, kooky, rockabilly vibes. NO BATTERIES!
