Poll workers play a massive roll in the election process. With the midterm elections taking place this week, poll workers have been a massive point of discussion. Staff writer Payton Brazzil joins the Lanthorn Loop to talk about poll workers and what they do. 

The midterm elections are set to take place on Nov. 8. In preparation, staff writer Joseph Poulos wrote a story that discussed the issues that are most important to Grand Valley State University students. Joseph is joining the Lanthorn Loop to discuss what he found.

Grand Valley State University seniors are preparing for graduation this fall. This means a large majority of these students will begin looking for jobs. Staff writer Zoë Murphy joins the Lanthorn Loop to discuss the current state of the Grand Rapids area job market. 

The Grand Valley State University Haunted Arboretum was open on Thursday, October 13, and Friday, October 14. The event gave students the ability to get into Halloween spirit as they walked through the decorated arboretum and faced jump scares from a variety of characters. The Grand Valley State University Counseling Center hosted Mental Health Screening Day which helped student assess and learn about their mental health. Staff writer Katie Rauhut joins the Lanthorn Loop to discuss her coverage of the event.  

GV Football defeated rival Saginaw Valley State University by a score of 29-10. Staff writer Brian Bloom joins the Lanthorn Loop to discuss the game and the process of covering a college football game. 

The GVSU Farmers Markets sells affordable produce to GVSU students on campus. In addition, their are many opportunities to get involved through internships or volunteering.  

From Sept. 12 to Sept. 16 Grand Valley State University hosted Mental Health Awareness Week. Mental Health Awareness Week was was completely student run and featured a variety of events that helped students learn about mental health.  

Subject to Change is an improv comedy group at Grand Valley State University. The group uses their performances to help entertain the GVSU community while raising money to assist in philanthropic endeavors.
