The Jonathan Files

Jon’s got some time to himself. I’m at CO3. Isabelle is too. So is Maddie. The snow is melting. Jon is holding down the fort.

Wow, Jon has done 200 of these things! It’s the break week at the U. Jon had some time to himself when Isabelle and I went away for a bit. Jon has been watching hockey, curling and speed skating. We want the USA to lose in hockey. We did this one at my computer, rather than over zoom, as you can see in the pic.

Today is CNDOP. So of course we recorded. Also, I’m sort of burying the lede here. Jon did his presentation in class today and he did a fine job. He did all of the research himself etc. He even made a joke during his talk. Isabelle and I are very proud of you Jon!

Jon texted me to record, so, well, we did. It is Truth and Reconciliation Day. Jon went to the gym with his trainer. He did an exercise called a Superman, hence the pic. Jon has a test this week. I have tests to mark this week.

Jon and I realized we haven’t recorded in a while. So we did. The new school year is on. We had our trip to Quebec. Jon is taking animal behaviour. Plus there is a psychology social he will be coming to.

Scooby Doo. Jon has been watching lots of What’s New Scooby Do. The theme is great, and there are lots of cool guest stars. Jon has been working out a lot. Of course he has been buying his 4K movies as well. We did this over Zoom, but in the house, because we are weirdos

It’s the end of Jon’s second year doing classes with me. He has really enjoyed this term, as he seems to have a thing for neuroscience. Listen to him talk about different brain regions and what they do! Oh and he had a workout today, as he does. Jon is great to have in class, he always comes, and he cares. It’s the first day back since the break. So we had our class, intro to neuroscience, this morning. We also had a presentation on student voting. Jon asked questions in both bits. Good ones too. He recounted his experience voting without ID (you can do it). Oh yeah, Canada won the four nations.

Another one? Well, it is the break week after all. Oh and there was a plane crash! Happily, everyone is ok. But when Jon heard about the crash at YYZ he knew we had a podcast topic. So here is us, giving you plane crashe updates. Enjoy.

Jon talked about the university, some of his wacky tv show ideas, what he’s been watching on tv, what he’s been listening to, you know, the usual. MONTREAL WON THE GREY CUP. Let’s say that again. At this rate we’ll do at least two of these a year! So we were in Sudbury over the weekend and we went to see the Super Mario Bros. Movie. It was pretty good. I liked it, I’d give it 3 mushrooms out of five, Jon would of course give it perfect. Oh right, this is full of spoilers. We both l liked the music in the movie. Isabelle showed a short film too!

Hey look! It’s a new Jonathan Files! Well, maybe it’s a one off for the Canadian National Day of Podcasting, but he seemed pretty positive during the recording. Oh yeah, Dec 1 is Canadian National Day of Podcasting, so it makes sense that we do a Jonathan Files. Jon has opinions on season 4 of Wynonna Earp. They are good opinions. He liked everything about it (when he likes something he really likes it). He’s also liked Star Trek: Below Decks. I’m not so sure about it, but I’m warming up to it. He wants to see season 2 of The Boys. He didn’t watch season 1…… School is starting back up soon too!

It’s episode 183, which, I called 169 for some reason. Jon’s back talking about his favourite show. It had a love scene that Jon really liked. He rates the episode 5 out of 5. Did I mention he liked the love scene? It seems to be aimed right at the male 15-24 demo to me. Jon liked the love scene, did I mention that? It’s great to be back ding these with Jon.

So, reason 4 of Wynonna Earp was on last night, and Jon was all over it. He really loved the episode, which should surprise nobody. I didn’t ask him for a star rating, but, he did say it got 91 on IMDB. We also talked a bit about hockey, it’s coming back! Oh right, this is a Jonathan Files review, so, suffice it to say, it’s full of spiders. Enjoy

Well we were out for a drive, and decided to record. Jon’s been doing a lot of stuff during the pandemic, keeping up with friends over google meetings, playing games, watching his favourite shows, and, working on what he calls his projects. Hey it’s #CNDOP! So, because of that, Jon and I recorded on November 30, which some purists will probably see as cheating or something. Jon hasn’t done one of these in a while, not since his review of the finale of Killjoys. Well he’s back. We get an update on what he’s been up to. We also get some interesting Canadian TV ideas. Jon never used to watch TV shows. Of course he watched movies, but never TV. As regular listeners to the podcast know, Jon is a big Wynona Earp fan. He also got into Killjoys. Well it had its finale last week and Jonno loved it. We’ve missed a whole season (summer) without an episode, so we’ll try to put these out more often. Taking a break from the restaurant reviews, Jon’s back at the movie reviews. Yesterday Jon saw ‘ How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World’. When he came home he told me he gave it 10 out of 10, so as usual, he liked it. Jon’s Oscar pool is done, and Michelle Sullivan won! Congratulations Michelle. The March break is this coming week, so, I’ll check with Jon to see whats sort of stuff he has plan...

Out to dinner again! So Jon of course has his review of North 82. He liked it a lot, giving it 10 chicken fingers out of 10. Jon’s been pretty busy with various stuff including a dentist visit, and working on his movie and TV show ideas, so he hasn’t yet determined who won his Oscar pool, but that’s coming. Oh Jon has heard rumours that Wynonna Earp is being canceled. Let’s hope that isn’t true.

We went for dinner. A podcast ensued. Jon had wings as well as deep fried pickles I had a burger. Isabelle had deep fried pickles as well as mac and cheese. Jon was impressed with Montana’s and would give it 10 wings out of 10. He claims it is his favourite restaurant. That said, he claims all of them are his favourite. Jon has started an Oscars pool.
