In Acts 20, Paul is informing the church with insights the Holy Spirit has given him about challenges ahead. Paul teaches us to be rooted in the one that has redeemed our lives and given us new purpose. 

God desires for all His people to grow in both passion and truth. Apollos, a gifted and passionate preacher becomes an example for us all. 

Like Paul, we are called to see the world's deep-seated idolatry through God's eyes, allowing that divine perspective to provoke us into obedient action and purposeful evangelism, ultimately fulfilling His greater redemptive plan.

How does the Lord want to meet us in our shame?

God, by His grace and kindness determines to take His enemies and turn them to friends and family. Acts 16 is the next stop on the mission to building the family of God.

Forbidden, not permitted and restricted, are the Last words we expect to hear as we are faithfully serving the Lord. Over and over, these are the words Paul, the faithful missionary, keeps hearing as he is trying to move forward in sharing the good news of the Kingdom. 

Following Jesus in the world today requires more than just avoiding the dangers the world throws at you. Jesus invites us to get into the mess of life and help others. Timothy becomes an amazing example for the church of how to put our faith into action. 

Human disagreements can obstruct God's work, even after moments of unity. However, God's grace triumphs, using our failures and conflicts to fulfill His greater purposes.

Most people love new things. Opening up something fresh and new out of the box can be an exciting experience. Jesus offers all who will trust in Him new life...everlasting life!

Paul faced many challenges as he continued to try and get the gospel out. The disciples weren’t necessarily getting the best results in every town they visited. They discover that sticking with a thing, is sometimes the better answer over instant success. 

The focus of the book of Acts is now shifting toward the Apostle Paul and the first of his missionary journeys. Paul and Barnabas are traveling city to city and have found themselves in Antioch looking to do Gospel work. Prayer should be like air for the Christian. We should find ourselves regularly communicating with our Lord and Savior. Along this journey, we often discover God joins us in our most impossible circumstances. 

Many years have now gone by since the Pentecost experience and God is still tearing down the walls that were restricting the good news from reaching the gentiles directly. Peter learns the gospel is for all people and not limited to some. 

As we open God’s Word, we will look at three different characters in the passage and how we may or may not relate to each.

Every now and again we see glimpses of the Kingdom breaking forth, just like sun rays breaking through the clouds. In Acts 4-6, we are still witnessing a Church community that is unified and growing. We’ve witnessed the church respond to external challenges and now we get to see its response to the first two internal challenges. 

So far in the book of Acts the Apostles have faced much opposition, but in the midst of it all they have remained obedient. When man’s commands clash with God’s commands, it’s God’s commands that take priority. We see that they have a complete obedience in which they are loving God with their heart, soul, mind, and strength. 

In Acts 3, we are introduced to a man that became accustom to being transported to the temple daily just to beg the worshipers. His hope would be in the charity of the people and not the God of the temple. As he is redirected, we all see our dependency should only be on Jesus.

The promise has finally arrived and He’s a true game changer. The Spirit comes and fills Jesus’ disciples and powers them for ministry. This first ministry opportunity brings various people together to hear the proclamation of the best news ever.

Today we use the word unprecedented to describe events that we have never seen before. The book of Acts recounts a changing world and the birth of the Church. It begins with instructions and the promised Holy Spirit.
