One of the wounds we can have as men, is operating out of our wounds.  Somewhere deep inside there is a boy yet undeveloped.  Often times that boy is running our show, he is operating in a way of self preservation.  It is the Peter Pan that never grows up because everything is working fine

We all have a motive for doing the things we do.  I think most times we don't even realize it, but other times we can even try and trick ourselves into having false motives.  One person we cant hide our motives from is God.  I failed 75 hard, I quit and the reason was because my motive was...well you'll just have to find out.

As men we can often take control and work things out in our own strength.  The results are burnout and overwhelm.  How can we get better?  

Failure can either be your biggest fear or your biggest embrace.  Either way its not easy.  It's ironic I tell my kids to fail and fail often, but as an adult with responsibility failure becomes more real and painful and I am not always quick to receive it.   I have a FREE Christian Mens group on FB called the HeartWorking Dad as well as a FREE download to my HeartWorking Dad Family...

It’s s a New Year and everyone is looking to make changes from last year.  For me I want to do an increased focus on my HeartWorking Dad Family Plan.  Let’s  put a focus on investing in the relationships that matter most.

Your presence matters

I got my own personal HeartWorking Dad hoodie and wearing that thing in public started a spiritual warfare.

IG Reels got me and I was convicted. There’s a trending reel to ignore your kids, let’s make it trending to spend time with your kids.

A word I was given while running and wanted to share. What do we need to lay down in our life? What do we need to do to surrender?

I recently had a moment of understanding a wound that I had. It made me resistant to instruction, but most important to being Fathered by God.

For so long I have heard the phrase man up.  I believe its important to be men and have masculinity, but we also need to recognize what else makes a man.

With all the insight we have into other peoples world, through social media and life coaches.  We can often find ourselves comparing ourselves to others "perfect" picture life and parenting.  It can be helpful, but it can also lead to a lot of guilt and frustration.  This is to help remind us (and me) to run my own race.

Do we be the encouraging, loving and understanding parent, or the tough, firm parent who has to challenge them?  Well....its both and it is a fine line to walk.
