The Heart of Markness Led Zeppelin Podcast

This is a good one. June 25, 1995, Jimmy Page & Robert Plant at the Glastonbury Festival. This show is on fire throughout. I play scorching versions of Four Sticks, In The Evening (amazing), & Calling To You>Smokestack Lightning>Break on Through>Dazed (also amazing). This one is great.

We hear a super cool North Bridge remix/remaster matrix of the legendary 3/21/75 Led Zeppelin gig in Seattle. A magic night to be sure and it sounds even better with the release. We listen to three tracks from this sublime performance, and I hope you enjoy.

This is Led Zeppelin at the Newport Jazz Festival on July 6, 1969. The recording I use is a 2nd gen (M>Reel>Reel) from KRW_CO, and it's pretty damn good. We hear Dazed and Confused (the crowd goes bonkers when Jimmy slaps the strings w/ his violin bow), You Shook Me (killer filthy slide), and a beautiful How Many More Times. There are some PA issues early on but the show is brilliant. Gotta love 1...

We hear a great recording of the Stills/Young Band on July 4, 1976 in Niagara Falls NY. This is an epic setlist and I play Long May You Run, For What It's Worth, and Cowgirl in the Sand. This was a volatile short-lived project, but it was brilliant.

July 9, 1973 St Paul Minnesota. A fun show with some wild playing by Jonesy and Bonzo. We hear a jazzy No Quarter and an epic Dazed and Confused for the ages. A great show from a great tour. An underappreciated show. Great playing all around.

This is a beautiful recording of a beautiful show. Saving Grace w/ Robert Plant & Suzi Dian May 1, 2022, at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival. We hear Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down, It's a Beautiful Day Today, and a sublime We Bid You Goodnight. This is special.

We hear a new 4 source merge of June 10, 1977 Led Zeppelin at Madison Square Garden. This is a great night and we hear an epic No Quarter and bombastic fantastic Kashmir. All cylinders firing in this one.

This is a great show from Page/Plant's Unledded Tour, May 26, 1995 in Vancouver BC. This master recording captures the fire and excitement of the band, and the crowd. We hear Thank You, Shake My Tree, Dancing Days & In The Evening. Awesome.

November 12, 1984 Covent Garden London, Roy Harper & Jimmy Page play an intimate acoustic set, 5 days before the first live appearance of the Firm, and it's wonderful. Hangman, 20th Century Man, and One of Those Days in England are heard. Really cool gig.

We listen to the newly released recording of Led Zeppelin in Bloominton MN April 12, 1970, taped by Michael Gillespie. I play Since I've Been Loving You, Bring It On Home, and Organ Solo/Thank You. So glad more new shows appear!

We hear a scorching recording of John Paul Jones in London Nov. 12, 1999 on his Zooma tour. I play Nosumi Blues, Triple Neck, and Crackback. Brace yourself for phat bass.

I take a look back at the last five years and play some live favorites, some rehearsals and jams, and The Yardbirds playing the Velvet Underground. This was a joy a trial to compose. Lots of great stuff in here.

RIP David Crosby. I play some tracks from CSNY in Tampa on April 14, 2002. I play Almost Cut My Hair, Guinnevere, and a raucous Eight Miles High. Great sound. Great loss. What a voice.

We hear a great Mike Millard master of Robert Plant from Aug 10, 1990 on his Manic Nirvana tour. We hear Tie Dye on the Highway, Little by Little, and a scorching Wearing and Tearing. Good stuff.

The passing of Jeff Beck gutted me and I had to pay tribute to a true master of guitar. I play a few from London June 1972, unk 1976, and Sept. 1983. Rest in Peace, Jeff Beck.

We talk to Led Zeppelin News' James Cook on his ten years of running Led Zep News, and how he gets his info, his brilliant research methods, and how Zeppelin helped him find a job in journalism. This was an absolute joy for me and hope you all enjoy it.

I finally get around to the new 8/19/71 Vancouver show. It's a wild bacchanal of top tier Zep. I play Gallows Pole (another one appears!), Whole Lotta Love (w/ medleys) and a rockin' Weekend (Eddie Cochran cover). What a band!

We finish up with Led Zeppelin's June 7, 1977 show at MSG, NYC with the acoustic set, followed by a bombastic Achilles Last Stand. Great remastered soundboard by Nakedeye25.

We hear the NakedEye25 remaster of the soundboard for Led Zeppelin on 6/7/77 @ Madison Square Garden. Nobody's Fault, In My Time, and No Quarter are heard, and they're amazing. Bombastic fantastic power.

I play a nice soundboard of The Firm at the LA Forum on March 14, 1985 on their first tour. I play City Sirens, The Chase, and Live In Peace. Paul Rodgers is in great voice, and Tony Franklin & Chris Slade pop! Jimmy's soaring above and around it all. Good times.

Part 2 of the stereo remaster of Led Zeppelin in Osaka 9/28/71 is another great one. We hear Since I've Been Loving You and Celebration Day (on the doubleneck) as well as a little country twang. Great sound. Great performance.

We hear a Mike Millard 1st Gen. of The Kinks in LA 8/17/79 supporting their Low Budget album. A raucous show worthy of the Kinks' ascendancy to their early 80's peak. We hear Low Budget, Superman, & Catch Me Now I'm Fallin'. Fun band. Great show.

We revisit Led Zeppelin's 9/28/71 Osaka legendary show with a glorious stereo remaster by North Bridge. Wide stereo soundstage and impressive instrument separation make this star shine even brighter. Amazing.

We finish up 2/13/96 Tokyo w/ Page/Plant on a high note. Kashmir, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, and WIAWSNB are played. Kashmir and Babe are insanely good. Great show. Great tour. Great recording.

We hear an incredible Mike Millard master recording of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers in Costa Mesa on Nov 9, 1991 supporting Into The Great Wide Open. I play Free Fallin', Psychotic Reaction & Don't Come Around Here no more. Great show from a great band.
