The Hawkeye Huddle

A fun show this week with recollections and observations from Iowa's easy win at Minnesota and preparation for the upcoming tilt at Penn State. Plus, the men's hoops schedule is finally out and it has some interesting new twists.

With the first football victory of the season under their belt, there is plenty to be positive about in the world of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Basketball still seems to be a thing...but when exactly is still a bit of a mystery. And Floyd of Rosedale is up for grabs this week in Minneapolis. Lots to talk about on this weeks Huddle.

The Hawkeye football squad has come out of the gate at 0-2 but the boys suggest that a few tweaks in play calling can turn the tide. The basketball season is coming more into focus as well.

With the first football game of 2020 in the rearview mirror, the boys are able to take a more realistic look at what Iowa actually has to put on the field for the year...and they are still optimistic. They also muse a bit about how good the Hawkeye Basketball team should be this season.

It's game week! Finally the boys have something to sink their teeth into and they do so with all the optimism and excitement of any Iowa fan as they get you set for Iowa vs. Purdue.

Time seems to be standing still as Hawkeye fans eagerly await the start of both the football and basketball seasons. But they boys have fun with memories of Hawkeye football past, discussion of the hoops team that will be this winter, and some talk with Tom Kakert about his findings on COVID testing and Hawkeye sports.

Iowa Football Coaches and players have held their Zoom media calls allowing for some interesting personnel news and commentary from Iowa's Assistant coaches. Full discussion of both on this week's huddle.

The fellas lament the fact that we are still three Saturdays away from Hawkeye football but also find time to talk about Iowa's situation on the defensive side of the ball with new additions. The also get into a little hoops talk as Payton Sandford of Waukee, IA was expected to announce his commitment right after the show. (He did. He will be a Hawkeye!)

The football schedule has been released as have some odds on each game making for some good conversation. And Tom Kakert stops by with some observations on Hawkeye recruiting in both football and basketball.

The boys are finally back and just in time as there is finally some hope for Hawkeye Football to be played in 2020. Year 17 of The Hawkeye Huddle is on tap!

The Championship Weekend that wasn't....

Basketball programs rolling with the punches as they head into the post-season. Wrestlers win the Big Ten Championship!

The Huddle hits the air for the next three Mondays as March Madness is upon us!

The boys make the best of trying to do a show while the Hawks are actually playing basketball on tv right in front of them. Baseball, wrestling, Women's Hoops and even some Softball talk too.

A surprising win at Minnesota follows a disappointing performance at Indiana for the Iowa Men and similar results for the Iowa Women. Wrestling keeps rolling. Baseball starts their season. Lots to talk, and argue, about on the Huddle.

Things are still pretty positive in the world of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Hard to be upset with historic seasons taking place in a three major winter sports.

A wrestling meet for the ages, great basketball, and loads of other fun items for the discussion this week.

It's great to be an Iowa Hawkeye-- really.... think about what a great few months we've had. The boys discuss along with plenty of hoops and wrestling talk.

With both basketball teams rapidly moving up in the polls and the grapplers remaining on top of the mountain, there's a lot to chat about in the world of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Football news is wrapping up for the year, but there are still conversations to be had. And the basketball and wrestling programs had a big week, providing lots of food for thought.
