The Graveyard Shift Horror Podcast

The current climate of not trusting science has had numerous sources, but i bet nobody claims this movie as the reason to fear needles! Scientists get injection madness to grow things with radiation and then get crazy as a Tarantula escapes the stabby lab to grow big and strong and return with a terrible vengeance. We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and th...

We have a case of crabs that no ointment can solve. But that's what we get for visiting Roger Cormans island, adjacent to the Bikini Atoll testing sites. We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and theme months. If you would like to make continued support to help keep the show going and get access to bonus perks, you can do so by checking us out at Patreon You...

With Halloween done, we decided to visit the 1950s for some relaxation, but wouldn't you know it, there's radiation everywhere! but you can at least answer this months question: Whats Black, White and Radioactive All Over? Today's answer is LOCUSTS! We cover a movie that can be viewed on WIKIPEDIA if you want to, but its also on YouTube. Just don't pay for it. We saw it free and are still paying f...

We have been snacking heavily from the Halloween Grab-Bag and unfortunately we have hit the nameless taffy and raisin boxes that is Creepshow 2. Sheldon is back, but gone are the lovely comic inserts, Tom Atkins being a terrible moustachless father, and the well made prop that is The Creeper, and instead we have less stories, animated interstitials from Don Bluths waste basket, a poorly designed r...

We don’t have to worry about the man from Mars or ponder whatever cars he likes to snack on, cause Blondie has a different snack in mind, the brother of Joey Lawrence! This boy has to keep his captor busy with bite sized stories just like we are enjoying this month. Will he survive? Will WE survive? listen and find out! We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions a...

We continue the Halloween Grab Bag with some campfire stories told by idiot teens. the stories aren’t that great. But we still have plenty to discuss and we get to see Peter from Office Space clapping some cheeks, so it’s not all bad. And we are joined by John’s brother Phil to share the pain. We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and theme months. If you wou...

We’re keeping Halloween alive for episode 365 as we spend the entire month snacking on bite sized tales of terror! This is the month of the Halloween Grab Bag, with anthology horrors to feast our eyes on. We start with the holy trinity of horror, Stephen King, George Romero, and Tom Savini having the time of their lives and giving us Creepshow, a legendary, iconic collection of horror stories. Thi...

We have no quarrels with vaccines on this podcast, but someone dropped the ball in Fort Chicken, cause things aren’t going well with our time going Back to School…. Some bad meat has led to very bad kids and its up to Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson, Alison Pill, and a very quirky biology teacher to survive the ordeal. Even if it involves a trip to Danville. This nice inversion of The Faculty is pretty...

We get Freaky for Prom Night after the first one went a little fatal. We definitely traded up as everyone in this movie delivers pure gold. Kathryn Newton and Vince Vaughn in a body swap horror comedy with actual heart? YES. We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and theme months. If you would like to make continued support to help keep the show going and get...

Well it’s Prom Night and Everything is all…..meh? We got Jamie Lee Curtis and Leslie Nielsen but the comedy is in the dirtbag caveman Leo and the pathetic stalker that intend on making sure some people don’t come home. We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and theme months. If you would like to make continued support to help keep the show going and get access...

We continue our curriculum of Back To School month on the shift. But we were naughty and got sent to Detention (2011) and boy it’s not the breakfast club where we make friends and discover things about them and ourselves. We just discover this movie really sucks. We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and theme months. If you would like to make continued suppo...

We celebrate September by going Back to School this month, where we watch horrors based in schools. We begin with The Faculty (1998) which holds up fairly well, yet being so freaking 90’s. We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and theme months. If you would like to make continued support to help keep the show going and get access to bonus perks, you can do so...

With our previous movie, it was a great idea executed terribly. This movie is fittingly the mirror opposite; a terrible idea executed brilliantly. This is just an excellent movie, but the premise just begs so many unanswered questions. It follows Jordan Peele's great idea of facing cultural issues through a distorted lens, much like the Twilight Zone episode that inspired this film. Another social...

It’s a wonderful night, you’re hanging out with your friends, and everyone is talking about a comet passing by. Then you suffer a neighbourhood blackout and find yourself in the intersection of an excellent episode of the Twilight Zone, and a terrible improv show. The only house you can see from your own house is…..your own house. Realities of various states are unravelled and nobody might be who...

We found a movie that takes the piss out of those “kid makes friends with a monster” movies in a way that has never been done, and we are on board for this. This takes inspiration from some very obvious sources and makes no apologies, and we couldn’t be happier. We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and theme months. If you would like to make continued suppor...

What happens when you take the dangers of dating, the desperation for side hustle in a gig economy, and the stigma of vegetarianism, and combine it in a quirky dark comedy thriller seasoned with a tongue in cheek soundtrack? You get a movie that really hits so many night notes it only hits lows created by it’s heights. We really enjoyed watching this, and talking about it. Plus Mike unleashes his...

We have reached the bombastic conclusion of Nic Uncaged on the podcast where one Nicolas Cage has had his horror films appraised by us. and we end it where it all began. His first horror (with an asterisk) film. The story behind this is as bizarre as the final product. and more bizarre still is how things end with the Nic Cage that Mike has been speaking online with for 2 months. Alicia isn’t with...

Unlike the janitor of this film, we have a lot to say about Willy’s Wonderland. Totally not a rip off of 5 nights at Freddy’s or the Banana Splits Movie, or Child’s Play. This movie is SOOOO much its own thing, with likeable characters and a coherent plot with justified motivations. And the conversations i had with Nic Cage in this episode are absolutely 100% real, and this episode is short. We ar...

We have reached the hump of Nic Uncaged Month on the podcast and Holy Mothers/Fathers Day! This movie is a novel idea, where parents all have the same urge, to take back their independence and revoke their parental rights in the extreme. Selma Blair shines in this movie and we would be totally convinced this was a James Gunn film. Mike shares his private moments with Nic Cage as their not so secre...

We have only just begun to celebrate the horror works of Nic Cage and man we really stepped up from the last one, cause this is a Lovecraft adaptation. One of the most interesting ways to create an otherworldly threat that exists beyond human morality and understanding, this was just done super well and features great acting talents all around. So hear us gush about it while we continue Mike’s cor...

We pay tribute to the horror movies of Nic Cage in our theme month Nic Uncaged! We begin with the 2006 Wicker Man remake. And if you think we’re going to hate it cause everyone else does, we got news for you. We only hate things for OUR reasons, and you will hear all of them in this episode. Including our month long feature, my actual conversations with “Nicolas Cage” and you will see what the quo...

Indigenous Peoples Month ends with the self proclaimed FIRST native peoples horror. Rod Pocawatchit directed a movie. This is that movie. We watched it. Now we talk about it. I think our podcast is better, but I admit to bias. I stand by it will save you watching the movie. At least we had 3 great ones this month. We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and the...

What do you get when you have a bunch of teenage girls trying to navigate puberty in an isolated northern village, caught between the fast paced present, and the slow methodical traditions of your community? AND….. there just so happens to be an infestation of alien worms here to kill everyone? You get this weeks movie, written and directed by an Inuit Woman, about Inuit Women, and it’s got a lot...

Indigenous Peoples Month continues with our tribute to Jeff Barnaby, and his final film Blood Quantum. This film has a lot behind it’s origin, and its intent, which we will leave to the episode itself. We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and theme months. If you would like to make continued support to help keep the show going and get access to bonus perks,...

We take a break from Pride Month to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Month. Native peoples depiction in horror films or just regular film has been notorious. We take this month to give historical context to what lead to this, and the effects of it and what’s been done to correct it. We take films that honor native people and speak to their struggles, and give them their due. We begin with the film Pre...
