The Graveyard Shift Horror Podcast

Welcome to the new year of horror, everyone. Mike is joined by Eric to kick off 2020 with the 25th anniversary of a classic, Demon Knight. We talk about the characters. demons, the special effects, and we see how Mike would fare as a keeper of the Key. We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and theme months. If you would like to make continued support to help...

It’s the end of the season, the final movie of Christmassacre 2019. We WERE hoping to see Santa, until we saw Rare Exports (2010), then we saw more than enough Santa . Based on 2 shorts (Part 1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V65zvJHd120 and (Part 2) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMqMN9Bo0IE by Jalmari Helander & Juuso Helander, this inspired a feature film that swept NUMEROUS awards in man...

The Christmassacre is winding down but not over yet, as Jack Frost 2 finally gets its due. Will this live up to the hammy goodness of the original? Or will it wither under examination and melt like a ice cube in the tropics? Eric (2 bearded losers) joins Mike once more to see if the Mutant Killer Snowman still has it. We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and...

We continue the Christmassacre as Eric (2 Bearded Losers and Schlocky Horror podcasts) joins Mike for a fantastic movie so exciting and terrible, we need to discuss it twice; here, and also on the Schlocky Horror Podcast with Johnny from Here’s Johnny reviews. We cover the killers that inspired the both Black Christmas films, and proceed to tear into this like Mom cookies. Enjoy :) We are hosted a...

Mike is rejoined by Ben from the Playing with Power podcast to ring in the month of Dismember for another Christmassacre! This year we kick it off with Santa’s Slay (2005) starring Bill Goldberg as the true Santa who after paying his penance for 1000 years can finally break bad and deliver holiday fear. He knows if you’ve been bad or good. He just doesn’t care. We are hosted at Captivate where you...

We finish up our Brain Dead double review with the actual good version. Braindead (1992) AKA Dead Alive in America because of last weeks movie, features a man with an overbearing mother dealing with a zombie uprising in the absolute worst ways possible leading to a final showdown that carries the honour of the MOST fake blood used. We had a blast and encourage you to watch this film. We are hosted...

We were told to watch Brain Dead and not given a year. so we decided to do BOTH early 90’s with that title. the first Brain Dead (1990) starring the 2 Bills everyone gets confused, Paxton AND Pullman in a sci-fi thriller written 25+ years before it was shot, most likely for broadcast TV, and definitely for a different type of director. But can it overcomes these hurdles? We are hosted at Captivate...

It’s Peter Cushing and Nazi Zombies besieging an island resort! What could go wrong? Well besides everything. We watched Shock Waves (1977) at the behest of our guest, comedian Scott White, and learn that Peter Cushing remained classy and awesome during the shooting of this film while barely finishing grieving, and many more awesome tidbits of a movie that Mike could have made better. and that’s s...

We are joined on Skype by musician/ stand up comic/ actor Theo Manhattan to discuss a movie near and dear to him, the 2016 highly acclaimed isolation /paranoia supernatural horror, The VVitch. does this cast a spell on us, or end up lacking hex appeal? or is it a mixed bag, like toad eyes, herbs, cat poop and wolfsbane? Facebook: Theo Manhattan Instagram: themostrelatableman We are hosted at Capti...

We burn Rubber (2010) as we watch the movie of a killer tire that deviates from all expectations, and therefore meets none. A psychokinetic tire that just rips off Scanners, a director with delusions of Monty Python by way of Tom Savini, a sheriff who breaks the 4th wall.. maybe a 5th and 6th…. and one broken cohost. We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and...

We’re going to a showdown as we partake in Maniac (1981) as Joe Spinell goes on a scalping spree taking out models and hookers in the late 70’s. it was good enough for a remake starring Elijah Wood, is it good enough for the Graveyard Shift? We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and theme months. If you would like to make continued support to help keep the sh...

Mike is joined by both names on the Tombstone as Sheldon returns to see how we’re handling the show in his retirement as we cover Silver Bullet (1985), a drastically underrated classic movie that has Gary Busey as the best/worst uncle to ever live, a family that gets along in a Stephen King story, and a wheelchair that should have got more screen time. We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip...

Crystal is out for the week so Mike is joined by Jack Summons to review the Exorcist (1973). This is his first time seeing the iconic movie so we hear if this movie holds up to a new audience. Find Jack on Instagram: @cosmic_cephalopod_jack , FB: Jack Random Summons, Twitter and Soundcloud: Jarseikle We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and theme months. Our first Jeffery Combs/Lovecraft movie and surprise, its NOT Re-animator! Castle Freak (1995) was a direct to video release by the same studio as Puppet Master, and while it featured some great disturbing stuff, unfortunately there’s also some terribly disturbing stuff. Not everyone will enjoy it, but everyone WILL enjoy our take on it. Please enjoy! We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip u...

We revisit a childhood classic for Crystal and a long missed opportunity for Mike as we finally give the Graveyard treatment to House (1986) A heartwarming story of a man dealing with PTSD from Vietnam and losing his child to a house. Are the 2 connected? We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and theme months. If you would like to make continued support to he...

We get racially sensitive and stayed woke till after midnight recording this episode! What happens when you take “Guess who’s coming to dinner” and flip it so the black guy is just TOO welcome in the white home? You get Jordan Peele’s directorial debut. Buckle up cause someone is gonna get offended. We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and theme months. If y...

We’re seeing Red on our episode covering Mandy (2018) a Shudder exclusive movie that critics love and spoiler, so do we! We have some thoughts on the wild man of cinema and the role that just seems to fit him like a favourite shirt. Enjoy! We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and theme months. If you would like to make continued support to help keep the show...

A Quiet Place (2018) has the worst post apocalyptic scenario imaginable. A world where Mike has to be silent. Can an audio medium make a skit about a world in silence? You bet we tried. We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and theme months. If you would like to make continued support to help keep the show going and get access to bonus perks, you can do so by...

The man behind the maniacal mime makeup, David Howard Thornton, joins us to discuss his career as an actor of stage and screen, Voice over artist, and Hide and Seek World champion. This is what happens when worlds collide and 2 immortals find themselves at a disagreement. This movie was a slasher fans wet dream come to life, though it definitely shows its age with the vernacular. We are hosted at Captivate where you can tip us to send us movie suggestions and theme months. If you would like to make continued support to help keep the show going and get access to bonus perks,...

Crystal has been promoted form guest to full time co-host on the show and her inaugural review is a long suggested film from Tiffany C, which can be viewed for free so give it a watch for at least the first 10 minutes.. Enjoy Death Bed: The Bed That Eats (1977) on Midnight Pulp , the only film done by George Barry and stuck in obscurity until 2001, this movie is about a demonically possessed bed t...

We wanted to offer something as means of apology for the lack of regular updates leading up to Sheldons exit, as the 100th episode was very important, and we shouldn’t do 5 or 6 episodes with Crystal and then Sheldon shows up to say goodbye. Nonetheless you have been without Graveyard goodness and we will make it right with a Patreon Bonus Episode on the house! New Years Evil (1980) features a psy...

Sheldon is handing in his shovel and leaving the Graveyard Shift but not before one final review. One of his childhood classics, The Monster Squad (1987) has a group of high school kids coming together to prevent Dracula and his minions from global domination.
