What can we learn from Jesus' first sermon preached in His hometown of Nazareth?

Before Jesus could start His public ministry, he had to be led by the Holy Spirit 40 days and 40 nights through the wilderness being tempted by the devil.

Why baptize a man who NEVER sinned? Because like everything else in Jesus' life, it shows us God's perfect plan through obedience.

Jesus just about disappears between the manger we left at Christmas and the beginning of His public ministry, but we do get one singular story about “teen Jesus”, and even as a pre-teen, Jesus has plenty to teach us.

Before we can “find” Jesus, we have to talk about who we’ve “lost”.

In the last we see of the Angel of the Lord in the Bible, He appears to the prophet Zechariah and puts some people, including us, in their place!

Jesus meets with Gideon and calls him out as His valiant warrior. And for as much as we all say we love an underdog story, Gideon’s road is met with everything but love.

The night before Joshua heads into battle against the impenetrable city of Jericho, he has a run in with the Captain of the Lord's armies…JESUS! And what does Jesus have to teach Joshua (and us)?

Limping heroes don’t sell in Hollywood, yet they are the only kind of heroes that God accepts.

Abraham got to encounter the pre-incarnate Jesus (at least) four times! But as we will see, each of these times comes with a costly call accompanied by a persistent promise.

In the first Christophany in the Bible (but was it the first? We’ll cover that in point one) in Genesis 16, the Angel of the Lord appears to Hagar. What He tells her to do, no one likes, but the motivation to do it…well it doesn’t get any better than that!

God’s introduction to Moses from the burning bush in Genesis 3 is such an incredible introduction - God introducing Himself to the world! But it also comes with a major problem we have to face…if we’re paying attention.

Paul closes out the book of Romans with a thankful heart and, in doing so, reminds us of all that we [have to be thankful for as well!

Romans 15 gives us some great promises…maybe the greatest gift we’ll ever receive, but it comes at the cost of Him asking us to do the hardest thing we’ll ever do.

In Romans 14, Paul gives us some guidance in navigating differences in regard to our individual walks with the Holy Spirit. Why do so many Christians differ in matters of their conscience, what they can eat, what they can drink, etc.; and how to we navigate that?

Paul tells us in Romans 13 to submit ourselves to governing authorities. He also pairs his teachings up with some of Jesus’ best defenses against Pharisee attacks. So what does it mean to render to Caesar what is Caesar’s, how do we do it, and why should we do it?

How do we find God's heart in Paul's direction to the Church in his instructions on how to operate in the Spirit found in 1 Corinthians 11 - 14? It all comes back to the Gospel and living "poor in spirit".

The Church in the United States needs to get to work! And just like Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 12, we ALL have a part to play in this rebuild.

The second part of the call to plant the Gospel House church was a focus on allowing the Gospel to redefine who we call our family and how we live together covenantally.

To kick off our series on who we are as the Gospel House church, we start with who we were initially called to be.

In 2 Kings 13 we find Elisha, the man of God, on his deathbed. BUT HE ISN’T DONE SERVING GOD YET! And God isn’t done using Elisha! In his final breaths AND BEYOND!

Make no mistake, God is never late in keeping his promises, but he rarely moves on our timeline in the way we want - instantly and on demand. We see this in 2 Kings chapters 8 -10 when God fulfills promises he gave Elijah twenty years beforehand that are now being carried out by Elisha.

What a story we get in 2 Kings 6! An evil king whose plans are thwarted, an army of angels and chariots of fire, and most importantly, the same grace of God that permeates the entire Bible!
