Creating a Shooter Without Meds 13.11.2022 19:55
It's long been a theory of mine but recent events have made this topic even more real to me. Yes, you absolutely will create violence in people and I tell you exactly how that happens without medication and what you can do if you actually want to change that vs. engaging in theater where you pretend to care about reducing random shootings. Saw this on a trip to I believe a weekend flea marke...
Finding Peace 03.10.2022 20:12
A LOT has been going on, hence the delay in episodes. However, things are slowly calming down. This is an update on my life generally and why you don't tell someone to "get over" a trauma when they are STILL having to deal with the ramifications of it (such as living in a homeless shelter after being driven out of their home or still having nothing of their own after their ex took everything). I...
Time to Do Some Housecleaning 07.09.2022 20:33
A lot has been happening since the last season, including the implosion of my housing situation (though something really needed to give). Total strangers and people who barely know me have been more supportive and kind than alleged friends and an ex who claimed to want to be my friend. When that happens, it's time to do some housecleaning. As I use some choice words, I figure I s...
Farewell to the Betty White of Cats 28.05.2022 20:32
It seems the gray kitty was older than we thought he was. He definitely didn't act it and was purring when I petted him even up to the end, hence him being the Betty White of cats. This pic is from when I first met him in 2020 when I came back to NYC to assess if there was anything left to bother staying for or if it was too much of a hellscape to bother. Those were happier times...
The Abortion Debate 08.05.2022 20:46
This isn't even my full soapbox on it since I forgot to mention the lack of accessibility to voluntary sterilization but figured it was appropriate to do this episode in light of the recent Supreme Court leak (which is also a separate topic I have views on). The pic depicts how abortions happened when they weren't legal. The coat hanger has become symbolic with unsafe abortions.
Finally, Finality 01.05.2022 22:04
Just as it says: I can finally speak freely about some things with the Energizer Bunny deciding he'd rather block me than actually accept some relevant facts of life (such as any friendships you have with an ex post-breakup are totally at the leisure, time table and control of the dumpee, not the dumper), engage in any meaningful self-reflection or recognize that he may not be operating with all t...
Why Are We Enabling Abusers? 16.04.2022 19:45
I'm sure everyone is familiar with that quote "Everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about." It's been applied in everything from discussing addicts to sex abusers; I'd like to know why children living in those situations are supposed to "be kind" and enable the ADULTS who failed them. For context, I grew up with an alcoholic father and while I was a very smart child, I wasn't...
If You Want Empathy, Don't Be the Same Kind of Asshole 19.03.2022 20:03
The title says it all: don't minimize or lecture someone else about their lived experiences if you want anybody to not do the same thing to you or believe that you are worthy of human consideration. Trying to change this basic reality just furthers the same things you hate. The pic is of a guy I saw protesting outside the Westchester Supreme Court (which also houses the Westchester Family Co...
Could You Get Another Cosby Today? 08.03.2022 20:16
I recently watched the documentary "We Need To Talk About Cosby" as well as a video response to it. This episode isn't about assessing Bill Cosby's guilt or innocence; I just wonder whether someone could replicate Cosby's position in his time, his impact on the cultural landscape and operate as he did with nobody taking any steps to punish him for his crimes until many years later. Th...
Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone 27.02.2022 20:05
This is a guy I noticed everyday when I started my job on Wall Street. I feel he epitomized the image I have of Wall Street so I dubbed him "Mr. Wall Street." Not my romantic type at all but me approaching this guy one day was a huge emotional leap for me and something I'm still proud of myself for having done even though he didn't become some new friend & it wasn't a particularly...
The Valentine's Show 15.02.2022 20:22
I have a rather complicated history with this holiday and realized I hadn't done an episode about it. Fortunately, this one was good but still sad because the Energizer Bunny wouldn't have ditched me or ignored it like other guys in the romantic orbit did. At least I have guy friends who acknowledged it and made me feel loved. These are some chocolate covered strawberries I ordered for...
Guns & Self-Defense 08.02.2022 20:24
My actual experience going to a gun range to take a course on pistols, learning about gun safety, doing shooting, etc. This also leads me to my stance on the 2nd Amendment as it relates to self-defense, particularly if you are in a "vulnerable" group prone to being victimized & in the context of the "defund the police" cheerleaders. This pic is of a random decal I saw one day making fun...
Sometimes You Just Have to Walk Away 30.01.2022 21:06
Some words about "Office Space," walking away from abusive work environments and suggestions for reforming the legal industry that nobody seems to have bothered with.
All Families Aren't the Cleavers 17.01.2022 20:08
This was inspired from reading a recent "Dear Prudence" letter where some Pollyana wife was buddying up to her husband's estranged mother and apparently not respecting his lived experience (which she claimed not to be aware of) that led to the estrangement. Yes, that's a pic of Faye Dunaway playing Joan Crawford from "Mommie Dearest" cutting her daughter's hair against the daughter's will. S...
Do We Really Need LinkedIn? 10.01.2022 19:53
This is a topic I've been wanting to cover for ages but I also discuss illegal job ads I've seen in entertainment, the idiots who defend them and exactly what the role of an attorney is (along with what it isn't).
New Year, New You (Or is it New Me?) 02.01.2022 20:14
The big New Year's resolution is getting over the Energizer Bunny though it's not really the plan to cut him off as a person. Go see the TV show "Soap" if you can since I mention one of the storylines, which feels very apt to how this breakup was going. This is probably my most interesting New Year's ever since this marks the first time I've ever had a New Year's Day date but I'm still...
Perception is Relative 19.12.2021 19:53
Know that saying "one man's trash is another man's treasure"? That's what this episode is about and how social conventions or your definition of conduct in a relationship isn't objective fact or even pure gospel. This pic is an example of this concept: liking high pulp orange juice would actually be a selling point to me (especially if you like the one from Trader Joe's though that means I m...
Sad Breakup vs. Angry Breakup: Which One is Worse? 12.12.2021 21:19
Well, which is? Except for this most recent one, which has been killing me in a lot of respects, every single other breakup I've had was based on anger and followed an easy enough formula. This breakup was right out of that Bonnie Raitt song "I Can't Make You Love Me" but now feels more like a script from a Woody Allen movie. This pic is the Energizer Bunny, the nickname I came up with...
The Perils of Super Skinny 28.11.2021 19:16
You think only large women have problems clothes shopping?? Think again!! Making the standard sizes larger does nothing for the naturally skinny among us. Going back to pre-pandemic weight has meant more alterations, bottoms I had before fitting again and seeing dresses like this at the store that are all too big for me. That pic is of a Calvin Klein dress I saw at Macy's t...
Vaccine Mandates 21.11.2021 20:24
Yeah, it's going to be controversial and thought provoking. Some of you will like this. For those who don't, show me the exact long term side effect data in plain English on every single population you insist the vaccine is "safe" for. Also, if you're a US citizen espousing such ideas, tell me when you're renouncing your US citizenship and moving to China, Cuba or another commun...
Is There an Expiration Date on Feeling Love? 14.11.2021 21:19
If you're dating someone, is there? Where would you put it at and at what point would you say it's time to bail? The pic is of the "Protect Yo Heart" art I'm referring to. I even got to meet the creator of the image once and told him the story you'll hear in this podcast. He appreciated it. Here's their website: https://protectyoheart.life/
So What Makes You a "Lady"? 11.10.2021 22:09
A native US Southerner's take on the topic. This Niagara piece (which I actually got to keep in the divorce & currently have on the wall) sums things up so nicely. I still want the "Shut Up or I'll Kill You" piece & I might just see about getting it, especially if I get an office sometime.
I'm Back; Since It's 9/11, Here's My Story 12.09.2021 19:22
My 9/11 story isn't particularly sad or tragic since I was a college student in Atlanta at the time, didn't have any relatives living in NYC and had no friends in NYC at the time. However, I definitely remember where I was and what I was doing that day since time was endless, things were surreal and 4 Day Guy came into the picture. If you're looking for humor, you'll probably find it....
Don't Mess with a Natural Redhead 15.05.2021 22:02
If you'd lump natural redheads in with "white women", you're so off the mark on that one it's hilarious since we don't take crap off anyone. Just ask a real redhead who grew up with redhaired relatives. Though Lucille Bluth wasn't a redhead, if your Gangee is a natural redhead she might just do that sometime. This is a LiveJournal icon (if you're old enough, you'll remember LiveJournal...
If You Don't Respect Yourself, Who Will? 08.05.2021 22:30
You can't let other people dictate your self-esteem or your self-worth. Some days you're going to be the only fan you have so get used to it, kids. This is how the adult world works. This pic is of an awesome mural I saw on a store shutter in my neighborhood. The eagle seems fitting here.
