The Gnomes Are Alive

Jenna and Tobias learn the truth about Sophie... and the project Lavaster Labs has been working on this whole time. They have to warn Mayor Mulweather before it’s too late, all while grappling with the question of what makes them, or anyone else for that matter, truly human.

A mysterious disaster unfolds on Oak Street, and Jenna and Tobias interview witnesses to piece together what happened. Noses will be stolen, bananas will be debated, and gnomes WILL be alive.

Jenna and Tobias talk to Alex Haunt of Lavaster Labs, who shows them the complicated ritual through which he creates Quarium. He also gives them some insight into the Lavaster Labs scientists’ mysterious backstories… that is, so long as you are wearing closed-toe shoes and lab coats made from the wool of a three horned ram.

What’s the best get-well gift you can get someone in the hospital? An interview with Jenna and Tobias, of course! That’s why the pair go to interview Garry Gilbert after he has mysteriously reappeared, gravely injured from an encounter with the scientists at Lavaster Labs. Between a lot of “bros” and “bras,” he recounts what he can remember from his traumatic ordeal…

Tobias needs to help Jenna out of her slump with his mushroom beard and microwave threats.

Jenna and Tobias chase an old lady all over town! Wait, it's not as bad as it sounds, I promise. She's a  demon  old lady. I'm making it worse, aren't I?

When Jenna and Tobias visit the local high school to interview a short, snarky teenage science prodigy named Paisley, Tobias needs to face his suspension-ridden past and Jenna decides how she wants her article published.

Tobias breaks into Lavaster Labs! With a frantic Jenna on the phone, Tobias finally encounters the mysterious River Lavaster, discovers more about Quarium, and meets a chicken named… Henry? Harvey? Something with an H, but it depends on the moment.

Jenna and Tobias interview Sophie, who works for Lavaster Labs and is a little bit… weird. Based on the interview, the two develop a new theory about what Lavaster labs is up to in their town. Meanwhile, Jenna learns to risk it for the biscuit - or, in this case, the scoop.

Jenna and Tobias interview Colin, a scientist working for Lavaster Labs... Except he keeps dodging their questions. And there’s a mysterious banging that keeps interrupting their interview. And, oh, geez, Tobias is taking his bad-cop role a little too seriously. What new information will they glean from this?
