The Eastern Edge Podcast

Meet Skyy and Peyton, two incredible students from our Air Force JROTC program. 🇺🇸 They share why they joined, what they’ve learned, and how the experience has helped them grow as leaders and teammates. From service projects to personal growth, their story is all about teamwork, leadership, and purpose.    

Episode 23 highlights Mr. Ross Gunderson, a physics teacher at Eastern York High School! Mr. Gunderson shares his journey to Eastern York, his enthusiasm for using his 3D printer to bring physics to life for his students, and how he recently used AI to create an extensive activity for his students.   

Mr. Moyer is an i-Tech teacher at Eastern York Middle School. He uses the Design Process frequently in his shop class with students in grades 6-8. This episode highlights how he incorporates student choice/voice in his class, how he multiplies himself with videos, and how he uses student surveys to continuously improve the classroom experience for students.       

Mrs. Walters is an outstanding kindergarten teacher from Wrightsville Elementary. Aimee and Mike have teamed together for the last 20 years as 5th-grade teachers at Wrightsville Elementary. This episode highlights how the two have learned how to work as a team, their work with modern learning, and specific strategies for building positive relationships with students while opening the communication lines with families.

This episode highlights Mrs. Christina Crumling, a 6th-grade ELA teacher from the Middle!  Mrs. Crumling is a relationship-centered teacher who enjoys the enthusiasm of her students. Chad Murren is an elementary PE teacher at Canadochly and Wrightsville Elementary. He has found amazing ways to create a fun, engaging environment with high expectations and high levels of support. This episode highlights the many ways he finds ways for students to own the learning through choice and reflection.  

Dan and Blaine Garner are brothers, Eastern York graduates, members of the EYSD Tech Department, and coaches of the Eastern York Wrestling team! In this conversation, we learn what makes for a long day when repairing a Chromebook, why the mental side of wrestling is important, and what future Golden Grapplers should focus on as they prepare for high school wrestling.

These two relationship-centered educators are working hard to enhance student voice and choice in their classrooms.
