The DC3cast!

The boys dig into all things "Death Metal" in this episode, starting by going page by page through the fourth issue of the main series. Attention is then turned to the two one-shots and the two tie-ins to "Justice League." Come for Superboy Prime, stay for the panel that nearly broke Brian's brain.

The boys look back on the Geoff Johns-spearheaded event, which reads as a sort of thesis for the next four years of DC Comics. We marvel at the artwork in "Green Lantern Corps," wrestle with the artwork in the Prologue by a certain problematic penciler, and remember all the cool Lanterns from this era, like Greenman and Stel.

Brian and Vince duet on some of the new and noteworthy books of the early fall. Did Joshua Williamson's "Flash" run end in a satisfactory manner? Was "Rorschach" the dumpster fire we were expecting? Why is 'Joker War' so good? Come for the answers to all of these questions and more.

The boys gather for a bonus episode to discuss the recent announcement of 'Future State,' DC's publishing initiative for January and February. We try to remain objective, but are clearly very excited about this. We gush over the creative teams, make guesses as to who is on the teaser image, and contemplate what the future will look like, post-'Future State.' 

The boys wrap up their look back at "52" and discuss how the various stories come to a conclusion. Did the Ralph Dibney plot stick the landing? Was there ever a point to the space story? Come find out!

The DC3cast is back on their bullshit, continuing their years long debate about the work of Sufjan Stevens. With a new album, The Ascension , out now, the boys discuss their feelings on the album, their favorite songs, and get into the classic Age of Adz vs Michigan debate.

Volume 3 of "52" begins to focus the series a bit, despite the covers spoiling quite a bit along the way. The boys also discuss which storylines work better this time around, the terrible Keith Giffen backmatter, and lots more.

We continue with our journey through "52" with a look at issues 13-26. These issues focus more on the mad scientist story and the Steel story, while putting Ralph Dibny into some really weird situations. We also get some gross Keith Giffen back matter, so strap in for that.

The boys tackle the first, and best, weekly series in the modern DC era, "52." In the first week, we meet the core characters: Renee Montoya, John Henry Irons, Black Adam, Ralph Dibney, and more. We also discuss the back-up stories, the trade edition back matter, and the gorgeous covers by J.G. Jones.

The boys gather to discuss the December 2020 DC Solicitations, including the return of Mark Waid, the end of Brian Bendis's Superman run, and "Endless Winter." Then, we recap the second day of DC Fandome, and review "Milestone Returns" #0.

After last week's look at the lead up titles, we've got nearly 2 hours of "Infinite Crisis" chat with our pal James Johnston! Topics discussed include our unending love of Superboy Prime, the beginnings of Geoff Johns's DC event dominance, and the almost death of Dick Grayson. 

The boys spend far too much time on "Batman: Three Jokers" #1, but also give updates on "Suicide Squad," "The Flash," "Wonder Woman," and more.

This week, the boys welcome their old pal James Johnston to the show for the first of two weeks focused on "Infinite Crisis." This week, we look at the opening "Countdown to Infinite Crisis" one shot," the four introductory miniseries, the 'Superman: Sacrifice' arc, and some notable tie-ins before tackling the main event next week. 

We've been both excited and terrified to discuss "Identity Crisis" on the show, so we brought in a ringer: Multiversity Manga Club's Emily Richardson! Emily joins us to discuss Firestorm blowing up for some reason, some weird father/son moments, and a lazy way to make a character 'evil.'

While Vince lounges around on vacation, Zach and Brian do the dirty work of recapping all the Fandome news worth discussing. Well...they discuss about 70% of the news and then their lunch hours from their respective day jobs were almost up, and so they plowed through the rest indiscriminately.

The boys wrap up their three-week journey through "Our Worlds at War" by separating the wheat from the chaff. That means focusing on the Superman and Wonder Woman titles and staying as far away from "Superboy" as humanly possible.

The boys dig into the third issue of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's insane DC event. Topics discussed include Jarro's jail talk, the Super Peloton Death Machine, and a bonus review of "Dark Nights: Death Metal: Legends of the Dark Knights" #1.

The boys dig into the second week of 'Our Worlds at War,' where we find out more about Imperiex, but not too much more. We also get more good Superman business, some less good Superboy and Supergirl stuff, and some totally superfluous Bat-family appearances.

The boys do a quick bonus episode on the news that many high-level DC executives, editors, and managers have been let go as part of sweeping Warner Bros layoffs . That's the starting place for a discussion about the future of DC, the role of comic shops, and how the comics industry is starting to mirror the music industry.

On the line from Portland, OR, it's Brian Michael Bendis! The two Brians talk about the balancing act of "Legion of Super-Heroes," the expanded "Young Justice" lineup, and those pesky internet rumors that never seem to go away.

The first of three weeks focused on the 2001 event "Our Worlds at War" begins here! Marvel at the amazing Superman depictions, hiss at the presence of Eddie Berganza on scripting duties, and wonder just what the plot of this event is, 11 issues in.

This week, the boys read a bananas event from the summer of 1999. There's plenty of monkey business, and at one point, Vince goes ape on Brian for making him read this event. Zach didn't like it either, but that's a gibbon.
