Knowing the right word for why we shut down and why we feel a lost sense of self, that's half the battle. It's not just that trauma leads to these things, the trauma started it, and the shutting down is the result, but the middle piece is so important because it can be invisible and just lingers unnamed...but it has a name and it's called STRESS.
