Hebrews 11 is not by itself... it is part of a long sermon or letter.  So today lets look at the end of Chapter 10 and the beginning of chapter 12 as we close chapter 11.

Here we hear about some loosing everything and going through some real torture.  Today, there are still many of our brothers and sisters who are suffering for Jesus.  I have met some in China, Ukraine and other places.  Would you be willing to loose all your rights as an American for the faith?

What a testament to God and His grace and His love for us. Anyone saying God thinks less of women, or less of types of people, well they do not know God do they.

The Passover.  The destroyer passes over their home and does not kill the firstborns because they had faith and obeyed.  Nothing else... so even Egyptians who were in the home or who had started to follow the Israelites would have been saved from death.  What is your influence in your home?

Moses lived a long life and his walk with God is captured in Exodus, but here in Hebrews, it is summarized in just one paragraph. The real story is about God. So for us, let's be faithful in the little things, and let God take care of the big things.

Part 1 of looking at Moses as he is mentioned in Hebrews 11.  Here we just touch on the part of him being a baby, and the faith really of his parents, and that of his beauty being that he seemed to have the hand of God on him.  Exodus 2:2. What is distracting us?  Are we really putting our faith in God?

What do you really believe about the future?   Do your actions communicate the same as your words as far as the future goes?  Do you really believe Jesus is coming back, and that all those who do have a relationship with Him will have eternal life with Him, and all those who do not, will be separated forever from Him in Hell?

Can you say obedience?  Wow, to obey God to the point of lifting a knife to kill your only son from your marriage.  And the picture of what God was going to do with His own Son. Good to read Genesis 22

When we live by faith, we are pleasing to God, we become those that God is pleased to call His own... He is NOT ASHAMED of us.  How cool is that?

Sarah was credited to herself, to have been faithful.  She is not saved by her husband's faith, but by her own. Women power... God has never been against women. Stars in the heavens match the amount of sand on the seashores?  Is this possible?  

Abraham was an incredible person in history.   Genesis 12-25 tells us the amazing story of God and this man Abram.

Just getting started... what is faith?  A quick look at vs 1-3.

Don't shrink back... don't give up, never surrender your faith.  We are not that type... we press on.  The Christian life, married or not married, is not for the light of heart.

This part of the sermon is set up to encourage the listener to press on with the good work they have already been doing.  Keeping their eyes on Jesus, encouraging one another, and not giving up.  Good advice for us in our lives, our marriages and such.

Are we truly delighting in God?  What if we lost our freedom?   Lost all of our stuff?  Here the Hebrew church is challenged not to give up their hope in Jesus.  Do we give our wife hope?  Do we promote our marriage?  Our love for her?  Our love for sharing life together, even in bad times?  I am guilty of not doing that some of the time... 

Stay the course.  Do not forsake the faith. Harsh warnings of denying Jesus by living in your sin.

Gathering as a community is not an option.  We should do it often, probably a lot more than we do, but as a family, as a husband and wife, gathering together to worship, to encourage one another is criticual.

Getting back to some great nuts and bolts of this letter... how now should we live?

I'm back, not a reference to Jesus, but just me, John.  Been a long time, with some change in my own life and family.   Coming into some great verses here in Hebrews. Going into the Holy of Holies... prayer, covered in the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

This one is long... so we will cout it as both this morning and tomorrow morning.  Love talking about God, His Word and exalting Jesus.
