The days and weeks that come after Christmas can be hard...after all the celebration that usually goes along with the holiday season, the re-entry into ordinary life can feel cold and brutal. The birth of Jesus could be labeled as somewhat of an "unwrapped gift", an unimpressive entrance into the world for such an important and beautiful gift. But what we find in Scripture is that God often has a different way that he likes to present his gifts that goes much deeper than man's shallow ways.

At Christmas time, we seldom long for "practical" gifts. We want something big and impractical! Oftentimes we look at the birth of Jesus in that way, for although the gift of his birth was absolutely necessary for our salvation, we can have a tendency to think of it as merely "practical" and miss out on the magnitude of this wonderful gift.

God designed life to be really simple...love God and obey Him. There are many ways we humans have complicated things. One of the things that can make life much more complicated than it has to be is...people.
