Sometimes to avoid accountability, we can pretend we are ignorant. My kids tried this one on me when they were little. And sometimes they fooled me for a little while. But avoiding culpability does not bring the freedom that repentance does. What we don't know, we don't know. But what we know we better live up to. Persecution is great in the world of those who believe in Jesus and who bear the name Christian. In the culture I live in, there is freedom to worship which is an incredible freedom. Yet there is intolerance for those who profess the name of Christ. Don't let suffering deter your faith. It did not deter Christ from dying for you. Sometimes we can be discouraged when we see Christians who fall or ungodly. But our hope should never have been in perfect people—just a perfect Savior. There are no super Christians.
