The prophecies about Jesus help us understand the truth that Jesus was always God's Plan A for our redemption. 

The story of Elijah passing the mantle to Elisha helps us understand God's design for leadership development among His covenant people. 

In 1 Kings 17-18, we see a sequence of stories that show God's provision to those who act in faith. 

Jeroboam quickly led his people into idolatry and judgment in a story that will become all too familiar in Israel. 

1 Kings 10-12 show us that while King Solomon started with a heart to follow God, he was led astray to worship idols later in life. The results were disastrous for him, his family and the nation of Israel. 

In 1 Kings 3, Solomon asks God for the wisdom to rule his people, instead of asking for long life, riches or vengeance over his enemies. 

Psalm 51 shows us David's confession and repentance as a result of his sin with Bathsheba and gives us an example of how to respond in the midst of our own sin.

The story of David and Bathsheba helps us understand our sin, repentance, and most importantly, God's grace.
