The American Junglist

The Phantom returns for a Halloween ride through his hood. Roll up your windows and lock your doors. Welcome to Crook County. Representing Chicago Illinois, please welcome back Phantom 45  Please enjoy ❤️ Back next week -Thomas

I like to think American Junglist was created for DJ's like todays guest. Since 1999 he has been pushing the boundaries of underground electronic music. Focusing primarily on UK breakbeat culture. Eric progressed through many genres over time, bringing 2-Step, Dubstep, and Funky Breaks to the Midwest in the early 2000s and later pivoting to drum & bass, breakcore and hardcore. His influences a...

I don't know if many people know how many years of practice and dedication it can take to get bookings on a regular basis. Cole would probably be mixing records in obscurity as much as he does now because he is dedicated to the craft of DJ'ing. Lucky for us, he doesn't have to do it in obscurity. He's one of the busiest DJ's I know! Representing Bad Man Sound, 3D Productions, Drum And Bass Proper,...

I met this weeks guest at one of the best parties I have ever been to. It was over a few days and his set was one of the standouts for me personally. I got to know Robbie a little bit as the weekend went on and we hit it off right away. His style is so unique and just different. In a close knit culture where it can be hard to stand out with a unique sound, he does it pretty easily. I tell him all...

This weeks guest is quickly becoming a staple in the global dance music community. It's people like him that keep the whole scene thriving. He has releases on a few labels here in the states as well as the UK, Spain and Belgium. My boy stays busy! Did I mention its also his birthday?! I first became aware of this weeks guest because of Rolled Up Records. Shout out to Tim & Aaron! He had a track on one of their V/A EP's and I wanted to  hear more so I checked Soundcloud. I was so into the style of DNB he was making that I messaged him.....I said something like "man if I ever get involved with a label, I'd really like to sign some of your music" That's was probably three year...

I feel so old when I talk about my childhood now. I guess its because i am haha. In the early 90's, Every corner shop in the city and every cool clothing store sold mixtapes by local DJ's. They all had a certain feel to them. Lots of crazy drops and tons of MC's. I loved those tapes! Shout to DJ Cash Money, Kid Capri, Dj Premier and so many more. This weeks guest wanted to re-create that vibe a li...

I was on my way to a rave when a friend (Terran) messaged me and said "hey!, this person is gonna be at the same thing, you should meet them."  It was a weekend at one of the best raves I have been to in my life!!! If you get the chance to go to one of Recipe and U4ik's mansion raves, GO. Anyway, I met this weeks guest there. She is  in fact a vibe. We got to  mix a few times together throughout t...

These days, it can be hard to keep up with new and upcoming artists in our music. A lot of people help me by recommending their friends and artists they're into. This weeks guest is one of those recommendations. After a listen, I liked him too. He is a California based producer and DJ with a unique "South Asian" vibe that I wish there were more of. His most recent release, the Shakti EP is a perfe...

Our guest this week has quickly become an icon in our American community and with good reason. I first became aware of Conductor maybe two years ago? I didn't really know much about her or her family but kept seeing that name on the socials. It wasn't until I read an article on www.bestdrumandbass.com that I felt compelled to reach out and meet Mary and Violet. It was emotional....lol. Now, we tal...

As much as I try to stay up on every DJ in every city, I just can't. My friend Brian at Everyday Junglist told me about this weeks guest last year sometime and I have been a fan since. I always look for the left of center, ruffneck, dark and funky warehouse vibes. As gloomy as that sounds, thats the shit I came up on and I just love it.  Representing Dark Room Atlanta and the Atlanta DJ Collective...

This weeks guest put together a deep and funky mix I have been playing for a few days now. He's a PREMIUM selector and we know you guys will love this one. Inspired by legendary Midwest junglists like DJ 3D, Phantom 45, and Danny the Wildchild, Shawn Blond has been on the pulse of drum & bass for as long as he can remember. His mixes reflect a deep appreciation for the full spectrum of DnB - f...

I have known of this weeks guest for a long time now. I have purchased a few of his records over the years. It wasn't until I was talking with one of my friends in DC that I found out he lives here in Florida! Our community feels so big and spread out that it's always nice to find out there are some good DNB people in your back yard. Eric and his show, Lab Sessions, has been a staple on Bassdrive....

This weeks guest  has become a rising force in the bass music scene, earning recognition both as a curator and a DJ specializing in deep, soulful, liquid sounds of drum and bass.  She's a whole vibe and I really enjoyed this one. Right in time for summer.  She's a resident DJ at San Francisco’s Stamina Sundays and Denver’s Konkrete Jungle Mile High and is a family member of Heavy Traffic Radio &am...

This weeks has a reputation for murdering dance floors and keeping it funky. He is also a veteran graffiti writer, with the felonies to prove it. Representing the 2Ten Platoon, Rave Legion, DNB Pr...

I have known of this weeks  guest for a few years now. I didn't feel compelled to reach out to her until I learned that she once had her own public access television show in the 90's! I had to know more. I thought that was the coolest thing ever. It turns out, she is in fact awesome. Kathy is one of the pioneering figures of Texas drum & bass and underground electronic music culture. Based in...

I met this weeks guest at a house party last year. Him and his crew throw some of the best raves in Florida. He also usually has cool stickers too and you know that's my shit. He is Co-founder of Hoodie Monks, Foundation. DNB, A Night of Drum & Bass (ANODNB), and resident DJ for Tuff Love Dubs/Force Recordings/Stepping Forward Records. Jason has been wrecking bassbins across the globe for 30 y...

It will never get old getting to know the people behind the music I'm playing. DNB is huge globally but it's still somehow kind of close in ways. I really love that. This weeks guests are among the best in the game for the techy, darker, minimal and rolling sounds of DNB. That's my shit. I think you guys will love it too. Representing Cohesive Music, please welcome Milzee and Yatuza. Links below....

This weeks guest is another pioneer in American Bass music culture. I first became aware of him during the beginning days of the internet.  Through the Phunckateck Crew: As a co-founder of this seminal San Francisco collective in 1996, he worked alongside early US jungle pioneers to establish the West Coast D&B scene. The raves looked legendary and his sets and mixtapes from this period were s...
