News about Darksiders 3 got us thinking about where open world games came from, where they are now, and our feelings on the state of the mega-genre. What has gone right or wrong in recent times? Plus, Star Wars day and Video Game Hall of Fame entrants.

The "3"DS is proving to be quite the resilient piece of hardware as it refuses to surrender in the light of the Switch attempting to take over the handheld market. In a rare case of breaking news landing on our laps as we record, we touch on the New 2DS XL, as well as some bits of Capcom news and May releases.

In a bit of a revisit of Episode 6, we discuss the current trend of remaking and porting older titles to current generations, as well as the development of games that purposely try and hit the nostalgia button. (Apologies for the sound quality, but we lost our pro for the day.)

Never ones to stay away from bizarre news cycles, Nintendo discontinues the NES Classic, puts out a Russia-only (as of this time) Switch bundle, hosts a Nintendo Direct that doesn't build a Virtual Console on the back of cancelled NES Classic, and manages to sell more copies of Zelda than Switch units. We're back after a week off to give the people what they want: a new episode! April has brought some Destiny 2 news along with XB1's Project Scorpio, as well as the western release of Persona 5.
