When we’ve been walking the right path for a long time, the more useful we are when it comes to helping others get on the right path. And as followers, we have a mandate to help others get on the right path, or get back on the right path.

How do you show respect for God? Is Jesus' name safe upon your lips? Is it sacred? A question we should all ask ourselves is, how are we showing our respect for God to Him, and for others, with how we speak and live?

The top reason why followers appear troubled or afraid, is that they don’t really know Jesus or His commands or follow the commands they do know. And when someone doesn’t really know God, or knows they’re being rebellious, it’s hard to talk to God about all the details of life. Therefore, praying is infrequent at best. So what’s the solution? Get to know God!

Are you a partner? 

Even though many of us have faith in God’s existence, trusting in His awesome creative power is hard when facing hard or painful situations in life. We need to have faith in Him even when things are at their worst. (John 14:1)

For Onesimus, coming to faith in Christ was the beginning of a long work to change his reputation, and the same should be true for many of us. God doesn’t want us to focus only on “working things out” with Him. He wants us to go first to others and pursue forgiveness and restoration with them, then come to Him to “work things out".  

The truth is, all of us should be aware of our role as Gods ambassador to others. Regardless of who we are or where we work. In fact, what our world needs most are those who consider themselves workplace missionaries.  One of the most important things we can do as followers of Christ, is always be considerate of those around us who aren’t believers.

Reaction vs. Response

We have been commanded to dwell on the realities of heaven rather than dwell on the realities of earth. However, based on what Jesus said, the thoughts of those in heaven are on their loved ones still on earth, and particularly on their repentance, which ultimately determines whether they’re going to heaven or not.
