Strange Highways

This week Terry and Paul make some poor life decisions and end up at a reformatory for wayward boys and meet Tanner, a young man that has fallen in love with the warden's daughter, Amy. Their relationship is forbidden but Amy thinks she has found a way for them to be free in the pages of a very old book... 

This week Terry and Paul head to a distant dead planet called Earth. There they meet an exploration crew that are there to survey the remains for any salvageable materials when one of them finds out that Earth might not be so dead after all... 

This week Terry and Paul awkwardly meet Mr. Bluestone, a very successful Broadway composer that has just died. Given an opportunity by a party on the other side to go anywhere in time and space, Bluestone chooses to back to his senior year in high school to try and have sex with his crush. We apologize for typing those words...

This week Terry and Paul get stuck in a homemade bomb shelter with Mr. Harry Dobbs, a man who believes that the world would better off if nuclear war actually happened. When he seemingly gets his wish, Harry knows all he has to do is wait for the radiation levels to drop before going outside again...

This week Terry and Paul get on a plane and meet the most annoying teenager in the world, Keith Barnes. Obnoxious, rude, and constantly tapping his drumsticks on everything around him. When his personal radio gets zapped during a lightning strike to the plane, he can suddenly start hearing the thoughts of those around him....

This week Terry and Paul end up in Trash Town™ and meet a group of four 'teens' that hotwire an old car that belonged to a man who had just passed away that day. What was to be a fun little trip spirals out of control quickly when they realize they are not when they are supposed to be... 

This week Terry and Paul take a wrong turn and end up in the oldest part of a mine and meet Mr. John Parker, a man caught under a shaft collapse and fears he is not going to make it. As he calls out for help, there is another voice down there with him in a similar situation... 

This week Terry and Paul really wanted to go to the video rental store but ended up meeting Mrs. Linda Wolfe, someone who has a history of spending more than they can afford to. When she is given an opportunity to sign up for The Card, she doesn't take the time to read the fine print...

This week Terry and Paul get visited by three ghosts and discuss the made for TV movie Carol for Another Christmas. Rod Serling's updated version of A Christmas Carol has a lot more on its mind than just changing the heart of one evil rich man... 

This week Terry and Paul hide under the covers and meet Mr. Jeff McDowell, a man who feels guilty over the decision to dodge the draft and not go to Vietnam. When his wife and daughter start to see a man that looks like him in a wheelchair, Jeff wonders if his guilt has now manifested itself... 

This week Terry and Paul end up doing hard time and meet Mr. Ricky Frost, a former professional piano player turned wrongly imprisoned man who isn't fitting in with the rest of the inmates. When he is given the chance to play a long forgotten piano, Ricky finds that he can escape to when the music was written....

This week Terry and Paul head down to a dreary basement and meet Mr. Barney Schlessinger, a man that is compelled to keep inventing things even when it may be costing him his marriage. He always felt like he was never in the right place or time and with the discovery of a hidden door, he might be right...

This week Terry and Paul get to the galleria just before closing time and meet Ms. Marsha Cole, who is just trying to find a last minute birthday gift. With all of the businesses closed, Marsha is being watched closely by those that remain in the after hours...  

This week Terry and Paul tune into KGRR and listen to Ms. Andrea Fields, a late night DJ that is unhappy and alone. While playing an album made by her former partner, she faces her past figuratively and literally... 

This week Terry and Paul ride a dusty old bus back to 1933 and meet Miss Dorothy Livingston, a substitute teacher that is filling in for three months. She is cautioned by the teacher leaving to let young Micah Frost always have access to the library no matter what...

This week Terry and Paul happen to wander into a surprise 40th birthday party for Christie, a successful news anchor that is starting to worry that she is getting to old to be in front of the camera. A co-worker of hers hands her a flask that appears to be just plain water but it does much more than hydrate... 

This week Terry and Paul go wandering off to the woods and meet Jeff, a lonely kid who shares time between recently divorced parents. When his father tells him to go  outside and use his imagination to create his own fun, Jeff meets Mike, another young kid that wants to play... 

This week Terry and Paul take a sad walk along the beach at night and meet Margaret, a waitress who just wants to find love and acceptance. She lived a very lonely life until one day a mysterious object in the sky choose her to receive its message... 

This week Terry and Paul start Season 2 of the 1980's Twilight Zone and meet Mr. Gary Pitkin, an Elvis impersonator that enjoys performing the earlier works of Elvis but thinks the later stuff was not rock n' roll. After a near fatal encounter with a drunk driver, Gary comes face to face with the man himself... 

This week Terry and Paul round out the last of their detours before starting season 2 of the 1980's Twilight Zone by looking at a film that could have been an episode of the original series with 1962's Carnival of Souls. Miss Mary Henry, the recent survivor of a car crash, heads west for a job opportunity and for a fresh start. Once there, she feels compelled to go to an odd structure on the edge...

This week Terry and Paul continue their detours by racing for pink slips out west with 1986's The Wraith. A mysterious black clad figure is taking out members of a gang one by one in a series of street races with an unearthly car...  

This week Terry and Paul are joined again by Leiann of the Skewered Universe Podcast as they revisit the very first episode of the original Twilight Zone, Where is Everybody? They talk about screaming out breakfast orders, flirting inappropriately with mannequins, and how this episode would set the stage for the series to follow. 

This week Terry and Paul continue their detours and learn the dangers of picking up strangers in 1986's The Hitcher. Other things they learn are about the importance of taking a good shower, avoid driving cars engulfed in flames, and making sure to check french fries before eating them....
