Storied Sounds with Dave Schneider
I like music and dogs more than humans. That said, dogs don’t speak so I will have some interesting humans as guest and hopefully get a few stories out of them. I also plan on playing many styles of sounds. You can’t beat the power of music, stories and laughter. I try to combine and share all of these on my show.

BOB DYLAN BIRTHDAY BASH WPKN FUNDRAISER featuring OLD BOB LIVE! 5-24-26 26.05.2026 2:59:59
Every year WPKN does a BOD DYLAN BIRTHDAY BASH fundraiser. This year in the middle of Brendan Toller and Herman Olivera's three hour shift Dave Schneider popped in with a surprise performance and fundraising idea. He asked OLD BOB (Brian Anderson and Chris Cavaliere) to play any song from Mr Dylan's catalogue for $100 donation. Things went swimmingly and Dave even had to join in on a very blurry v...

John Perrin drummer extraordinaire-NRBQ/YOUNG FRESH FELLOWS/SMOKING POPES/SHE & HIM/JD McPherson/Rodney Crowell etc etc 08.05.2026 2:59:59
I met John Perrin while he was out with NRBQ about 10 years ago. The band came over to my house and attacked my record collection. It was a heavenly 2 hours. John fit perfectly in my fave band. That band is a music lesson and a sweet stew for the soul. As you can see above and hear in the show you hopefully listen to right now, the kid is a monster talent and loves/lives music like we all of us nu...
TIM HEALY TV PRODUCER/MTV/VICE TV 24.04.2026 2:59:59
This was a neatsville show! So neato! Ok, I will stop with the neat stuff but besides some great tunes of all sorts, My guest Tim Healy talks about being in the studio for his first job at Mtv 120 Minutes with a new band called Oasis. We play that live raw track and so much more. Very neaty stuff.
The Philistines jr (Peter, Tarquin, Kurt and Eric) FULL BAND 13.04.2026 2:59:59
It's not easy to be a band and make recordings that are not derivative. At some point you do something that sounds like The Beatles, Chuck Berry or (name the band). Peter Katis has expressed his love of Bernard Hermann (Frequest composer for Alfred Hitchcock Films) They don't sound like him either. I LOVE THIS BAND who are also my best friends. Ps Peter Katis has also produced/mixed many many very...

Get Up Kids Matt Pryor & music writer/lover Jim Sullivan hang with Dave Schneider 27.03.2026 2:59:59
This show was fun and seemed almost professional. That can only lead to trouble. Dave spoke to a working musician and a legend of the road and radio ie Matt Pryor of The Get Up Kids. After Matt came a deep dive of stories and sounds with Boston's very own rock n roll encyclopedists Jim Sullivan. Writer and really such a sweet match for a music geek like Dave. Enjoy!

The Coronas are recording a new record here in Bridgeport about 7 minutes away from WPKN headquarters so Dave asked the boys if they would like to join. They are very nice fellas so even if they wanted to decline, they did not. Turned out to be a great storied conversation mixed with playing tons of music. Thanks to Peter Katis for doing what he does which is produce and mix fantastic bands at Tar...

DOUG GILLARD (Guided by Voices, Bambi Kino, Nada Surf, Cobra Verde, Death Of Samantha), one of the world's topper most gunslingers spinning tunes and tales with Dave on Storied Sounds ... #5 So much MUSIC & segue ways never attempted on radio before (to my knowledge) 10.10.2025 2:00:00
A last minute schedule brain fart (no guest) by Dave ends up being a real personal joy ride shared with listeners. From Groucho Marx starting things off to The Misfits. Unplanned first were hopefully achieved. NRBQ's 1972 "Things To You" into Genesis Abacab LP 1983 "Keep It Dark" is what Dave was looking to do. Also the first ever DOUBLE ROCK BLOCK of Australia's Daddy Cool occurred. How bout that...

#2 Dave Schneider's Storied Sounds w/ Peter & Tarquin Katis / Philistines jr. & Paul Yates 27.09.2025 1:55:01
Episode 2: Dave plays some tunes and then brings in one of the great bands who just come from a different planet. They don't sound like any other groups and that feet is not easy. The Philistines jr are Peter and Tarquin Katis. They were so good in 1990 that it took me two years to convince them to start a a band that only writes songs about hockey. I knew how to pick my friends/bandmates. Their m...

Episode 1 of a possible long or short career of unpaid but heartfelt/passionate radio with me Dave Schneider and my new show titled "Storied Sounds". The plan for this show is to play any music I like and would like to stick in your ears and then bring on a guest to talk to and, play more music. My first guest was not only a last minute one at that, he partied throughout the night before at a Scis...
