We know what it is to be anxious and have our minds racing in panic or fear. Jesus invites us today to come to him and to know who he is for us. We are invited to follow him in life and to learn unforced rhythms of grace where we will learn to live lightly and freely, whatever we face, in Jesus care. [Pentecost 6]

In Matthew 10:4042, Jesus reveals that simple acts of welcome and hospitality are holy encounters with Christ himself. Called to authentic, joyful service, we are invited to move beyond duty and embrace others with compassion, humility, and grace, discovering that God's kingdom often grows through ordinary acts of love. Divisions can occur in families, even the closest of families and even in Christianfamilies and the Church. Jesus knew this. His radical way of grace and calling us to pick up ourcross and follow him was a cause of division in families. Jesus assures his disciples that they neednot fear. Rather he calls them and us to be bold in our witness to him and his cross through whichGod brings true peace....

Because we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through Jesus Christ and stand in God's grace. Even in times of suffering, God sustains us through the Holy Spirit, nurturing endurance, character, and hope. Grounded in Christ's love, we trust God's promises and live with confident hope. In Jesus time the Pharisees thought they could perfectly name and keep the law of God. In doing so they excluded many people who they judged to be unclean and imperfect. Jesus comes to the excluded, the sick, the unclean and he heals by exchanging his perfect holiness for our sin and he rejoices in hosting us who are sinners and saints at his banquet table on earth and in heaven to come.
