Spoil Me

Greetings, fair listeners! Many thanks to Ashleigh for sponsoring this episode! I'm getting into the second half of the book, and I was so deeply hoping that Sonea was going to finally be free of Regin's harassment at this point. I know that's a foolish wish, and that there's no way one of the main conflicts was going to be wrapped this early, but I just hate reading it. Because here's the thing;...

Many thanks to Agnes and Rachel for commissioning this episode as a Voyeur level so that everyone could watch me flip out when we got to That Part. You know the part. That one. I lost my shit. But first, let's talk about the elephant in the room, and the fact that that elephant was one of the stars of Home Improvement until 1998. Until That Part happened, I thought the reason for commissioning a v...

Shout-out to sponsor Ashleigh for commissioning this episode of The Novice! This shit is really starting to get serious and I'm starting to grow very anxious about how it is all going to shake out. First of all, I cannot emphasize enough how freaky I find it that Akkarin can use that damn ring to read Lorlen's thoughts as well as see AND hear everything going on around him. I swear to god, that is...

Many thanks to Patricia Bing-Grant for commissioning this episode of The Dark Lord Of Derkholm! This is a really fun book and you can tell how much I like it on account of how I sound like I'm on death's door but I wanted to podcast anyway. So, it turns out that Barnabas is actually doing everything he can to fuck up works, by order of Querida. She's hoping that if Mr. Chesney's plan goes badly en...

I want to thank sponsor AND author Robin C. Farrell for commissioning another episode of Resistance Rising! For those who may have forgotten, Robin did the first episode of Resistance Rising with me at the Wannabe level a couple months back, and it was a really fun experience to talk about a book with the actual author! There were definitely some hiccups while I talked about the next couple of cha...

Many thanks to Tristen Haidet for sponsoring this episode of Deep Wizardry! I have to confess, y'all, I was mighty concerned throughout these chapters. There are so many things going on that are all a REALLY BIG DEAL! So first, let's talk about the giant shark. Actually, you know what? I'm not sure I want to do that. That scares me. So maybe let's talk about the fact that Nita has agreed to sacrif...

Many thanks to Ashlyn for commissioning the next episode of The Fifth Season, and for introducing me to this beautiful, heartbreaking book. Also I want to apologize again for having to reschedule, which is always a bummer. Hopefully it will not happen again. This episode, Ashlyn asks me to revisit the interlude and see if there's anything that I notice about it. She has something in mind that is a...

Thank you very much to Jacqui for commissioning this episode! I'm really surprised at how hard everything gets ramped up this episode, although I'm not going to lie; I'm still distracted by what's going on with Veronica's mom. This episode is really packed with plot lines. First we have the case of the week, which is about an overachieving student named Sabrina who is getting harrassed by someone...

Many thanks to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode of The Novice. This is a really really surprising couple of chapters because shit starts to pop off way sooner than I expected. In these chapters we meet Rothen's son for the first time, and it turns out that he's kind of a sweetie pie. This isn't too surprising, but I was definitely not expecting something romantic to sprout between him and S...

Thank you so much to D'Nique for commissioning another episode of Parable Of The Sower! These chapters are really much more hopeful than probably any of the others so far. I am fascinated by these characters, and really irritated with some of them as well. I have to admit that I'm really worried about our crew teaming up with a family that has a baby. I know that it's to the other family's advanta...

Everyone say thank you to Anonymous for commissioning me and RoShawn to cover The Perks Of Being A Wallflower as a power couple! If you weren't able to make our Crowdcast, that's a shame because it was a lot of fun (and not everything in a Crowdcast makes it into the final episode) but it's still available to watch if you want. https://www.crowdcast.io/e/spoil-me-perks-of-being This movie was love...

Hey there delightful listeners, and welcome to the next episode of Veronica Mars in which we get to see some of the aftermath of Veronica going to see her mother. Now, I'm not entirely sure whether there's something going on that I'm not supposed to know as a viewer yet, but I am having a really hard time understanding how Veronica was able to sit with her mom and get this whole sordid tale out of...

Hello everyone! Thank you to Ashleigh for commissioning so much of this book, and I'm getting really into the storyline now. I'm getting so mad at the teachers for either falling for the shit Regin is putting out there about Sonea, or for turning a blind eye. I'm not sure just how complicit they are but I'm tempted to quantify it at "very". Dannyl, meanwhile, is out here standing up to some pirate...

Thank you to Ashlynn for commissioning this book, which is absolutely ripping my heart out. There is so much to cover in these chapters that I went over time just a tad, but damn there is a lot happening! The second-person perspective has "us" sitting with what is undoubtedly the Stone Boy and realizing a little belatedly that there's something weird about the kid. So far that's as far as it's gon...

Thank you to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! These chapters are full of goodies and more little germs for theories regarding what's going on with the High Lord. So let's talk about Regin and what a little devious genius he is when it comes to doing shit to fuck with poor Sonea. He plants a stolen pen in her "backpack" and frames her for theft, which effectively shuts down any support that...

Hey there lovely listeners! Many thanks to Charissa for commissioning this episode, which turned out to be kind of a weird one. I'm very interested in hearing your opinions on this, folks, because my primary gripe this episode is that Veronica is acting way out of character to further the plot and it just feels kind of cheap to me. She's this amazing investigator until we need Duncan's identity to...

Guys! There are whale wizards and wizards becoming whales! This was a really wild section, and I am once again taken aback by Diane Duane's incredible imagination. I love that there's still so many ways to surprise me. In this section, our lovely friends transform into whales, via two different methods. Kit uses something called a whalesark which holds the memories of a previous whale who died, wh...

Before I launch into talking about how damn uncomfortable this episode was to watch, I want to thank Nancy for commissioning this episode. I have a live-watch of the next episode scheduled on Facebook, which you should be able to find in events or in videos if you miss it, and I'm very curious what that's going to be about. Okay. So this episode. YIKES. This shit is way too timely. I cannot tell y...

Many thanks to Ashleigh for keeping me chugging steadily along on these Black Magician books with all her commissions! Please follow this link to grab the book if you'd like to read along. https://amzn.to/2DLR8u6 This section is when the bullying of Sonea takes a turn that I never saw coming, but I fucking should have! Regin begins to spread the rumor that there is something sexual going on betwee...

Well, I would like all of you to yell at Ashlynn for commissioning a book that has made me cry during both episodes of coverage so far. I fully anticipate that this is going to be a trend with this book. The second section introduces us to a new character called Syenite, who works at the Fulcrum and is forced to have sex with males there in order to breed more orogenes. The whole thing is really h...

Thank you again to Patricia for commissioning The Dark Lord Of Derkholm by Diana Wynne Jones! These chapters are where we see what Derk's poor kids have to deal with while he's down for the count, and I'm going to warn you right now; I get a little preachy this episode. Listen, I hardly feel like I'm out of line on this one; Diana Wynn Jones clearly has some things to say about the way the prison...

Hello everyone, welcome back to Hexed, the third book in the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne! You can pick up the book here, if you're interested! https://amzn.to/2Q8oVDA This episode is brought to you by Sue Hayes, and I want to thank her for commissioning more of this book because I have been really hard on Atticus and I want to see some redemption. Usually 5 chapters makes for 50 pages al...

FINALLY! Thank you so much to Rosalie for commissioning the next book in the Young Wizards series, Deep Wizardry by Diane Duane! I have to confess I didn't expect that it would be so long before someone commissioned another book from this series, but I started to come to terms with the fact that maybe the other books weren't as good and nobody wanted to hear about them. I AM VERY EXCITED TO BE WRO...

Yay! Coming at you with the second installment of The Novice, this time brought to you by Ashleigh, and this section is pretty tough in a lot of ways. It's never easy to read about bullying, and it's even more infuriating when the person orchestrating the bullying is being supported by the people with power...in this case, the teachers. I said this in the last episode as well, but classism on this...

Welcome back, Marshmallows! I'm here with another episode of Veronica Mars, and in this one we've got a young girl who has gone missing, apparently abducted by her father's rivals. OR WAS SHE. Also, this episode we get the funeral for Logan's mom, and it's really weird because we don't really get insight into why he's acting the way that he is until the very end, when he finally tells Duncan the t...
