Spoil Me

Thank you again to Yama for commissioning this episode! I'm really beginning to get into where this is all going, and I was surprised by how affected I was by the fact that Lirael gets to see her mother again. Last time if I'm not mistaken, we see scenes of her mother's past, but I don't think she actually addresses Lirael, does she? Either way, her telling Lirael "I love you" was really something...

Thank you so much to Agnes for commissioning this episode! This was one of those episodes where I'm not really sure what I feel because the issues we're dealing with on this show this season are so fraught. This episode revolves around Veronica getting hired by the frat to clear their names, and in the end she finds out that it most likely wasn't them...but the feminists are mad at her? For not, l...

Thank you very much to Yama for commissioning this episode! This section of chapters is delightful because it mostly concerns a romance that I've grown very invested in. I just really like Nick and lot and I figure if he's picked one of the most badass women in recent history (his world's history) as his aim, he's got excellent taste and I like him even better. And I just want him to be fucking HA...

Thank you very much to Rachel for commissioning this episode! It's been a while since I've covered the last episode of Veronica Mars and I had forgotten how we had no update on Weevil until now. Things seem to be going pretty badly and I'm hopeful that this new job he ends up with actually works out because I want stuff to be better for him? I'm weirdly invested in what happens to Weevil, okay? Me...

Thank you very much to Melanie for commissioning this episode! I can't believe that we're in the final stretch now, and I am starting to get the jitters about saying goodbye to this show that I've started to get super attached to. This episode is all about how everything finally perfectly coalesces to fall apart because Mabel is super duper sad and makes a really terrible mistake. Honestly, I feel...

Thank you very much to Melanie for commissioning this episode! These two episodes are the last of the doubled-up episodes of Gravity Falls, which makes sense because they're sort of the last of the one-off lighter stories before the season begins to wind to a close. The Last Mabelcorn is a hilarious and frustrating jaunt into high fantasy, and Roadside Attraction is partially about fucking up Stan...

Thank you very much to Yama for commissioning this episode! So I'm very curious about how y'all feel about this book because I can't tell if I'm being reasonable or impatient regarding my expectation that we should be a little further along with things by now. Ferin I'm mostly okay with, because she is a character that I expected to have a long travel-focused quest...but I really didn't expect for...

Thank you very much to Martin for commissioning this episode! I can't lie, I'm absolutely stoked at the team of badasses being assembled in these chapters. Granted, they haven't quite come together in a group yet, but I have no doubt they will get together eventually and I'm so looking forward to watching an odd friendship blossom between Nona and Zole. Maybe more than friendship? Who can tell? Me...

Thank you very much to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! So this was the last recording covering The Ambassador's Mission, and I really have to say that I was baffled at the way it wrapped up...or really, at the way it didn't wrap anything up at all. The only thing that feels like a conclusion here is that Tyvara is sentenced, but otherwise there is still a problem with Skellin and roet, Lo...

Thank you Yama for commissioning this episode! These chapters are really funny in their way, because there's such total awkwardness between Lirael and Nick. God the two of them have no real idea how to talk to one another, and I'm just over here praying that they figure it out before they have to face a monster together or something. Meanwhile, the woodweirds are chasing Ferin along with the rest...

Thank you very much to Yama for commissioning this episode! This section of the story is just devastating, and I was not ready at all. There were some personal things going on that made it hit me harder than it might have otherwise, and it was also just SO well-written. I'm really worried about what it's going to look like going forward. Thank you so much for listening, and I will see you soon wit...

Thank you very much to Yama for commissioning this episode! So these chapters completely confirm the fact that it's Chlorr who is demanding women be trained and kept waiting for her to possess, and there's something way more upsetting about that now that we know who Clariel is and who she used to be. She's a mess now, apparently. Speaking of messes, here comes a fisherwoman to be totally immoveabl...

Thank you to Yama for commissioning this episode! And apologies for fucking up the reading order for anyone who is reading along, but after messing it up on Week 1, I've thrown it all out of wack. So this episode will be covering pages 55-101 and I hope you can forgive me. I really liked this section because we get to see more of Kit and his own home life, and we also get to learn about the way th...

Thank you very much to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! I'm sorry I was such a mess with scheduling due to losing internet, but I promise I will have it together more (not completely, but MORE) next episode. In these chapters, we've got the confrontation between Lorkin and Dannyl, in which Lorkin has to explain to Dannyl why he doesn't want to be found. It's an interesting moment when you...

Thank you so much to Melanie for commissioning this episode! This episode is about Stan dealing with feelings of inadequacy in comparison with his brother, which come much more to the fore when he's dealing with Dipper and Mabel. And there's something really really sweet about that? In the end, though, we get Little Gideon back as an adversary, and I'm totally here for it. Thank you so much for li...

Thank you to Yama for commissioning this episode! This book is really fun because it starts before the end of The Creature In The Case, but it's from Lirael's perspective (for some of it, at least) so we get to see what she's thinking and experiencing in the same situations as Nick. She's super into him, and unwilling to admit it to herself, and it's adorable. Meanwhile, Chlorr is out here basical...

Thank you so much to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! In these chapters, we've got a surprise new character in Cery's daughter, who is kinda badass but also very young and inexperienced. She reminds me of a more violent version of Sonea, and she's here for some revenge. Meanwhile, fucking Skellin, man. He bad news. Thanks for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

Thank you to Yama for commissioning this episode! In this episode we get the conclusion of Nicholas Sayre's adventure with a freaky Free Magic creature, and we get a little bit of interesting information about him that seems to imply that he's related to one of the 9 who set the hemispheres to rest the first time. Also, it seems that Lirael has a bit of a crush on him, and I ship it. Thanks so muc...

Thank you very much to Melanie for commissioning this episode! This is the first episode we get of Villanelle working with her new handler, and she absolutely loathes him. Honestly, he's pretty scary and I like that he manages to be so without really having to flex or posture at all. Meanwhile, Eve is backstabbing Carolyn again and I'm wonder wtf is going to happen between her and Kenny because he...

Thank you very much to Abbey for commissioning this episode! This was SO MUCH FUN. I loved everything about this story, and I'm so damn excited to get into the second half soon. Being back with Nicholas Sayre is wonderful because we're getting to see him get to follow through on plans and really use his brains. I love the monster, and the way that they wake it up, and I'm excited to see how a Free...

Thank you very much to Melanie for commissioning this episode! This was a delightful treat that I didn't expect to be so far into this season, and was especially fun to watch with Owen, who is an old hand at Dungeons & Dragons, and who appreciated the little jabs and jokes which were all clearly made in love. There's also some development of relationship between Dipper and Ford, which is nice to s...

Thank you very much to Alison for commissioning this episode! This episode was very relationship heavy, most of them romantic but not all of them. The main one that affects most of us, I'm sure, is Marcy moving out of David's house. I mean, if they're not going to be anything that's fine, but it's hard to watch sweet David get his heart ripped out while in the midst of a battle with PTSD. Meanwhil...

Thank you very much to Yama for commissioning this episode! So we're into the next book in the Young Wizards series, and it has a very different start from the others in the series so far. There's no sense of unity here, and while Nita is stewing over something that I'm not quite getting, Kit starts on a solo adventure by stepping through a portal his dog found. It's all very puzzling. I want to a...

Thank you to Tonje for commissioning this episode! Hoo boy this was a creepy one. Eve's story not so much, of course, but Villanelle ends up in the clutches of a man who is really truly awful, and the whole world appreciates that he isn't alive anymore. Meanwhile, there's a new assassin operating on a whole different wavelength to Villanelle, because she prefers to be practically invisible and not...

Thank you very much to Yama for commissioning this episode! I can't believe this book doesn't end with Clariel turning permanently into the person we know she will become. I'm okay with that, because it's a real subversion of my expectation, but I'm left feeling almost sorrier than I would have been otherwise. Knowing that she gets a reprieve and still winds up as she does somehow makes it worse....
