Peter describes Jesus as either our cornerstone or our stumbling stone. As those who are obedient to Christ, we are part of a chosen generation, royal priesthood, holy nation, His own special people. As such our lives should be honorable and cause others to glorify God.

In light of our living hope we have as those in Christ, we are to live holy lives which glorify God and grow in His word.

Peter writes his first epistle to "pilgrims" throughout part of modern day Turkey who were suffering for Christ. As he begins that epistle he describes the hope that we share in Christ that results in joy inexpressible and full of glory. We can share in this same hope today through Christ.

As Paul writes about walking worthy of our calling as Christians, he ends with a discussion of submission in various relationships (Husbands and Wives, Parents and Children, and Slaves and Masters).
