Socrates on the Mountain

What is up, Ghosts? We're back and keeping to the schedule! Hopefully it stays that way. Anyway, in this one we get into some current issues with what's happening in Afghanistan, population decline, and some other stuff. We also preview topics for our next couple episodes which we think y'all will enjoy!

Sorry we've been gone for so long! Life happens and things come up that demand all your attention, but things have calmed down and were excited to get back into it. Sticking with the theme of returning, Chris decided to look at the story The Return of Martin Guerre by historian Natalie Davis. It's an amusing and dramatic real-life story from 16th century France revolving around the lives o...

So... this one didn't go according to plan for a couple of reasons, but that doesn't mean it's bad.  Instead of talking about what we originally had planned, we talk about The Last Deployment Project.  What's that?  It's an initiative I started a few months ago to document the voices of the Marines and other personnel who were on the ground in Kabul, Afghanistan during the final wit...

Well folks, I think we did it!  Not to brag, but I think this might be the best episode we've done to date.  Join us as we go over the life of one of the most "colorful" (putting it lightly) philosopher's of ancient Greece: Diogenes of Sinope.  It was a great time recording and we hope you have a great time listening!  Please, if you like it, share it around and leave us a review wherever you list...

Sorry for the late upload!  Went to bed last night and completely forgot.  Anyway, here's the first of what will probably be many episodes about education.  In this one we let you know how we really feel about the state of education from our own experience as well as some of the things I've discovered while researching for my Master's thesis.  We hope you enjoy it and feel...

Yet another episode where I (Chris) sit down and talk with one of buddies from the Corps.  Hope y'all enjoy listening to this one as much as I did enjoying it.  Shell Boy was a Light Armored Vehicle Mechanic (2147) that I had the pleasure of working with and is honestly one of the funniest guys I know and a lot smarter than he lets on.  We BS a lot about our experience at our old un...

I'll apologize upfront for all the extra background noise.  We were watching the family dog for the week and she just had to be part of the action.  Other than that, join us as we discuss Mamoru Hosoda's most recent feature film Belle .  There's a lot to talk about and it is very relevant to today's world.  Hope y'all enjoy the longest episode thus far!

Once again keeping it hot and loose, this time with the boys!  Join me and two of my best buddies as we talk about creativity, pop-culture, and other random things.  Also, despite what Ware says, this will still be a monthly thing.  Unfortunately, I have neither the time nor the resources to upload more often.  On that note, sorry for missing last month, but we assure you we'll...

I swear!  We get to the topic eventually!  Anyway, here's another one of us rambling and trying to stay on track like professionals.  Okay, maybe not like professionals but we do get it done.  This was a fun one to record as we tried to figure out true definitions, find virtue, and complain about technocracy.  Can you figure out what virtue is?  If so, let us know in...

Finally, here it is!  This is the second and final part of our discussion introducing Socrates.  We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.  This is the end of the beginning.  Now, like Socrates, let's have conversations that will not only help ourselves, but our fellow human beings.

I didn't edit this at all, so I'll apologize upfront if the quality is not that great.  Anyway, some things happened today.  A LOT happened today.  Here's my take on it.  Stay safe, stay informed!

In the long awaited first official episode of Socrates on the mountain we take a trip back 2,500 years to the ancient city of Athens to meet our namesake; the man, the myth, the legend: Socrates.  Well, we got their eventually, after a few detours.  Anyway, we hope you enjoy and maybe learn something you didn't know before like: AD does not mean "After Death."  Don't worry.  Pa...

A Chiropractor and a Marine buy a microphone, let the games begin!   Welcome to the introductory episode of Socrates on the Mountain.  Join  your two new favorite hosts as they embark on an internet adventure to  solve the worlds problems one conversation at a time.  If you're not  interested in that then just sit back and listen to us ramble.   Politic...
