Another lie the early Church heard was this: There’s a special divine knowledge to discover. And the place to dig is in yourself. In Colossians 2, the Apostle Paul reminds followers of Jesus to not dig in the wrong place. The goal isn’t to dig deeper into ourselves, it’s to dig deeper into Him.

There’s a lie the early Church heard that said the material world was something to be escaped. But Paul’s letter to the Church at Colossae tells a different story. In Jesus, all things were created. And in Him, all things hold together. And His heart isn’t to do away with the world. It’s to renew it.

One of the unique realities that Jesus shows us on Palm Sunday is that children are not just a part of God’s Kingdom, but announcers of God’s Kingdom. Jesus reveals that in His Kingdom, there is no age limit. There is no age limit to be a vessel. There is no age limit to announce “Hosanna to the Son of David.”

We are not passive spectators in our thought life. We are active participants. We have the ability and the authority to choose where we set our minds. Which means that we don’t have to wait and see what thoughts come each day. We can set our minds on things above.

Our minds are a battlefield. And we have to take our thoughts captive and make them obedient to Jesus. But it’s not enough to know that at a head level. It has to work its way into how we live.
