John the Baptist declares what John the apostle argues throughout his Gospel: Jesus is the Lamb of God that will defeat all sin.

Like John the Baptist, we are able to know who we are and who we are not because we know who Jesus is.

Those who believe in the finished work of Jesus experience a well of abundant grace that never runs dry.

The Gospel of John shows us that we are dependent upon God to help us believe in the name of Jesus and become His children.

In the first five verses of the Gospel of John, we learn the nature of Christ and how true life is found in His Name.

We are commissioned by Jesus to make disciples: people who are adopted by God, being formed by God and empowered by God for life and mission.

When the gifts of the Spirit are used in the proper order, under right authority and with true clarity, they serve to remind the body of Christ the gospel’s first importance.

In pursuing manifestations of the Spirit, we should strive for excellence in building up the Church.

The gift of prophecy is given to the Church for the building up, encouragement and consolation of the body of Christ in love.

When rooted in selfless, sacrificial love, the gifts of the Spirit flow out of us as conduits of God’s love for His people.

God has designed the body of Christ as an interdependent system with each part playing its own role in the mission of making disciples.

We have been uniquely gifted by God to be participants—not merely spectators—in the work of building up the body of Christ.

As kingdom citizens, we’re called to reflect the gospel by living in humble imitation of Jesus.

The cleansing of the temple reveals Christ’s love for God’s presence, the temple and His people as He intervenes to restore holiness.

During the season of Ordinary Time, followers of Christ are on mission, making disciples as they witness to the ends of the earth by the power of the Holy Spirit.

As we end the sermon series, we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost and we remember our union with Christ and the call to share Christ by the Spirit’s power.

As we await the future kingdom and a remade cosmos, body and reality, we must be on guard against misplaced hope. Where we place our hope is where we find our joy.

In the last section of the Sermon on the Mount, we learn that Christ is the narrow way, and the heart that loves Christ follows only Him.

The Sermon on the Mount continues as Christ shows His disciples that pursuing wholehearted devotion to Him is better than all the riches and comforts of the world.

In this section of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches His disciples how to pray and warns them about the dangers of giving and fasting with the wrong motive.

Continuing in His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus shows that He is the new Moses who will ultimately fulfill the story of Israel. He provides a better way through the forgiveness of sin and a transformation of the heart.

In Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount and the Beatitudes, we see a picture of the ideal person committed to following Christ.
