The good news is that as challenging as it sounds to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow him. we can successfully follow these guidelines when we stay connected in Christ like the carriages on a train. In the words of St Paul, we can do all things, through Christ who strengthens us.

For the first of our Evening Services in the new Methodist year, Barbara Easton, Vice President of the Methodist Conference is our guest preacher.

God has been faithful to us through this lockdown. We have witnessed that as a church! Many have found their faith has carried them through this time. And even when the worst has happened, Jesus has given us hope beyond the grave!

The good news is that every time we turn to God in prayer for the world and for people, we are making a difference. The good news is that every time we put our pennies into a charitable cause that helps the needy, we are making a difference. The good news is that every time we share the gospel of Jesus Christ and help people turn towards God, we make a difference.

I believe we are all ministers of God’s love. We’re all called to let the Holy Spirit dwell within us, so that Jesus can reach out to his world through us. Don’t let the rollercoaster ride of our experiences, distance us from the Faithful One who longs to bring healing, renewal, and to build his kingdom of love.

‘Christian discipleship is a journey not just through calm meadows with a cloudless sky. Discipleship sometimes brings us to the eye of the storm, sometimes storms come and overwhelm us.’

Remember to keep your eyes on the Lord and listen to the call to intimate discipleship. For it's that radical encounter that’ll enable our souls to find rest and, in the future, will lead us to the safety of God’s coming kingdom.
