Genesis 48 Isn't it interesting how Jacob swaps his hands so that his right hand, the hand of blessing is on the second born. 

Genesis 49 There's two prophecies that are interesting to us in the blessings that Jacob pronounces over his children. 

Genesis 50 There's a through-line in Joseph's life that we see spelled out in our reading today. It's that even though he's very powerful, Joseph knows he's not God. 

Exodus 1 We are starting Exodus today and have this interesting story of the midwives who were deceptive to the governing authorities in order to preserve innocent life. 

Exodus 2 It's fascinating how baby Moses was put in a boat and floated down the river to be seen by the Egyptian princess. Deliverers in boats is a recurring motif in the Bible. 

Exodus 3 Let's talk about God's name, revealed here to Moses as YHVH, "I am that I am." 

Exodus 4 We can see 4 examples of how the Lord gets people to do what he wants in seeing how he worked in Pharaoh, Moses, Zipporah and Aaron. 

Exodus 5 Well, that's one way to know that you're in an abusive, tyrannical or totalitarian situation... 

Exodus 6 It's interesting to consider how the Israelites couldn't believe the word of the Lord because of their broken spirit and hard labor... but, the Word of God is still true... even if we don't believe it. 

Exodus 7 We are beginning to see how God hardens Pharaoh's heart. It isn't a secret or hidden process. It's on display for us to see. 

Exodus 8 We are watching how the Lord hardens Pharaoh's heart. It's through mercy, through enabling, through relieving him of the consequences of his actions. 

Exodus 9 We are watching the Lord harden Pharaoh's heart. Here we see how the Lord had every right to obliterate him, but through mercy, allows him to live, in order to escalate things and have his power displayed for all time in the earth. 

Exodus 10 We are watching the process of God hardening Pharaoh's heart. It's now hard, and we can plainly see that it's only Pharaoh's fault. Even his officials can see it. 

Exodus 11 What right does God have to execute the firstborn of Egypt? 

Exodus 12 We are talking about the Passover meal, what's called the "Seder" now in today's episode.

Exodus 20 We are taking a fresh look at the Ten Commandments, seeing the connection to Jesus and the connection to today. 

Exodus 21 It's interesting to consider how David wrote in Psalm 119 over and over how magnificent these laws are and how they would make a person wise. 

Exodus 22 We are talking about laws, and in this chapter, it's the laws concerning our stuff. What underlines these laws is the concept of responsibility.
