Save Room For Dinner

Mom made chicken and pasta and kale for dinner. We talked about quite a few things, but ended with Sam telling about how people like to talk to them.

We're back! Dad came back home from a 5 week stay at the hospital, then we got COVID! We're now all better and back in our usual groove. Tonight Sam and Dad made tofu and pasta. We discussed Eli's trip to Ecuador in 2020, just as COVID took over the world.

Dad was in a bad mood. His energy level is very low nowadays. Dinner was a bit tense, but this is supposed to be real life so, here's a slice of it.

Dad was in the hospital for a few days and returned on Saturday. He and Eli made Hamburger Helper. We talked about dad's stay and a few other things.

Dad and Sam cooked Fettuccine with tomatoes and mozzarella balls (the kids call this the "Summer Dish"). Among the things we talked about were Eli's homework and how 3/4 sleeve shirts have no seam. Happy holidays!

Sam turned 18 on Friday! Yay!... But we didn't talk too much about that tonight. Eli and Dad made Sloppy Joe and pasta for dinner. We talked about Sam's "drinking problem", family sleepy time issues and that Eli has no toe nails in his toes. Happy Chanukah to those who celebrate the festival of lights!

Eli and Dad made Chef John's Famous Mac & Cheese. This time Eli decided to try adding in the Dijon Mustard and Worcestershire Sauce. We talked a little about Y2K, and a little bit about everything.

Dad made rice with seitan stir fry. Kids talked about D & D at school, Sam's college application, and mom made herself laugh two times... And we had News From The Farm. Enjoy!

Mom made spaghetti and meatballs with garlic knots and broccoli. Dad and mom thought it was yummy, the kids didn't have any meatballs. Sam is very stressed about the college application process. Eli was broken tonight, after he and Sam did a synchronized cough. It was a good night.

Eli and Dad made breaded chicken with.... Pasta... We talked about Thanksgiving, the kids' school assembly, the wonderful taste of chicken and that Mom believes in "Funnel People". Oh, and News From The Farm! Enjoy!

Eli and Dad made Chef John's Famous Mac & Cheese (without the mustard or Worcestershire sauce). We talked about a few things and i forgot to take notes, but i know that we definitely talked about classifying farts... Yes.. we are immature sometimes 😁

Mommy cooked pasta with a Bolognese type of sauce. We talked about Eli's muscular system drawing, which caused some laughter. Dad broke down crying while telling a short sad news story. And we finished off by playing math games... Go figure.

Dad and Eli made pasta and a seitan stir fry. We had a pretty serious dinner this night. Sam had some issues with Eli that we had to clear up and then Mom and Dad tried to help Sam deal with some feelings about their therapist. We usually have a funny episode, but life isn't always laughter. And this was an important night.

It's Halloween! Eli and Dad made breaded chicken and pasta and we ate early so the kids could go out to have Halloween fun. We spoke about the kids' teeth, their costumes, and there was News From the Farm.

Dad made slow cooker beef stew and pasta, because we think it's weird to eat without having rice or pasta at a meal. We discussed Eli's play, different foods, Sam's future haircut, and how fast Sam can talk. Enjoy!

Sam and Dad made baked tofu and pasta for dinner. The kids talked about all the icky smells at school, what constitutes a "silly little man" and we tried to convince Sam that they were wrong about what actor looks like Abraham Lincoln.

Eli and Dad made hotdogs... Well, Eli did all of the work because Dad was feeling sick with a head cold. We are Doctor Who fans and had to talk about it, so here's your SPOILER WARNING! 😁. Mommy couldn't stop making inappropriate hotdog jokes and we talked about the movie Dad was watching this afternoon - Curse of Frankenstein with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. Enjoy!

Mom made scrambled tofu and pasta for dinner. Sam talked about their transcendentalism class, and almost had a breakdown. We talked a little about Eli's class project and then discussed the Sweater vs. sweatshirt controversy. Enjoy!

Dad and Eli cooked Three Cheese Stuffed Shells. Today is Eli's birthday! Yay! We talked about Sam's interactions with their therapist, Eli opened one present and we also got lost in a conversation about time, since it seemed that all of our clocks froze at the same time! Spooky!

Sam and Dad finally made the steak burritos Sam wanted to make last week. We talked about Eli getting medication, Sam sexualizing bugs, and Mom's plan for the house in the future.

Dad and Sam were supposed to cook steak burritos in Wednesday, but Sam was too sick, so dad had to cook the steak today, and just made pasta to eat with it (by request from Eli). We got some News From The Farm and also talked about how our bodies are falling apart.

Sam was sick...? We think it's a head cold. Sam and Dad were supposed to cook tonight, but Sam asked Dad to cook on his own. So, we had instant minestrone with some added ground beef and sourdough bread with butter. Eli has some post nasal drip, so he wouldn't stop coughing... And hilarity ensued!

Mom cooked a new recipe - fried pork dumplings over a bed of salad covered in a peanut sauce (Eli ate yogurt with granola). It was scrumptious! We spoke about how to eat the new dinner, Eli's day at school, Sam's senior trip and we had News From The Farm.

We're back! Welcome to Season 2! Sam and Dad made Steak and Bok Choy, but had to replace the baby bok choy with broccoli. We discuss Sam being both creator and destroyer, Hispanic Heritage Month and how mommy has trouble pronouncing Galapagos.

We talk about the kids' respective trips and some of the potential sensory and anxiety issues each may have. We also get some News From The Farm from Mom. The kids are away on 12th grade and 8th grade trips all week, so we'll take a small break and be back 9/26, just enough time for you to catch up! 😁
