This is the final sermon in our summer series through the Book of Genesis. In this final section, we see the transition to the Next Generation. Abraham and Sarah will pass away and their son Isaac will be married to his wife Rebekah. The sermon applies this message by focusing on the importance for parents to invest in the intentional raising up of the next generation of Jesus followers.

The time has finally come for God to deliver on his promise to Abraham that a son would be born to Sarah and him. They name him Isaac, which in Hebrew means "laughter." How quickly sin intensifies from Genesis 3 to Genesis 4. The first death recorded in human history is a murder of a brother by his brother. Cain becomes angry with his brother and he kills him! God warned Cain, "Sin is crouching at your door. You must rule over it." In this sermon, we are encouraged to find strength in the Lordship of Jesus that sin would not have mastery over us.

In Genesis 1 and 2, we see how perfect God created things to be. As soon as we turn into Genesis 3, things start to fall apart. This sermon stays very close to the words of Genesis 3 expounding on the origins of sin and its affects on our world today.

While Genesis 1 is like a zoomed out version of creation, Genesis 2 zooms in to talk specifically about the creation of humanity and the uniqueness of humans.
